The outcrossed are smaller than the heavy in/linebred dogs, which are probably way tighter bred than yours which you say have lost size, mouth & finish. When a line loses size, physical and mental attributes it’s down to a lack of selectivity,. Anyone who has these dogs here and doesn’t care about the dda or it’s possible consequences is a fool and shouldn’t be breeding em. That means mother son, father daughter linings that’s what I mean by tightly inbred dogs. My terriers lost size nothing else they would stick to the job more than your bulldogs but due to size they would take a lot of stick holding the quarry you gotta remember terriers push 15-15lb up hill in there quarry’s backyard so an extra 5lb on a terrier is a big difference. I have the terrier bred from the 79s where every single dog in the terriers pedigree was worked and worked hard something you can’t say about your ‘bulldogs’

woudnt it all depend on the size of the gene pool? eg if you wanted to breed RB dogs in the US it would be easy to outcross but stay within the same family due to the fact RB must have been bred to so many bitches of different boodlines? Hence you would have the luxury of being able to be more selective.
