With RAW feeding though you aren't just feeding meat. You need proper ratios of Meat, bone and organs. I don't use any vegetables when feeding raw though I know some that do. It's useless unless it's pureed. Dogs digestive tract aren't long enough to process raw vegetables. I think the cellulose prevents them from being able to break it down.

Yeah I know about the organ meat, but I’m not stating that this is comparable to today’s dog food formulas in kibble. We’ve come along way in nutrition but if your feeding a lot of dogs there’s ways to feed them cheap or free. What Howard did was get the meat that the old Montys steak house would throw out, They would save it for him in a garbage can. He would also get there famous bread then he did add produce to it. I can tell you what his dogs were in peak health and he sent a lot of those Az. Aces out that were real Bulldogs. Just bringing up some old timers feeding methods. Walter Komosinski would trap muskrats and boil them up and feed to his dogs and he was hard to beat in his day. Colby did the butchers scraps and vegetables and cooked it all up and fed that way. How do you think dogs were fed before manufactured pellets came about.

Sure the old timers had their way of doing things. Men of there time that's forsure hats off to them guys. I believe the 80's was the big leap when folks really got serious about nutrition. Bob fritz doesn't get enough credit for his contributions. I use to Facebook him with questions and he gave me great advice. I can't do kibble anymore because I'm a control freak and need to know exactly what is going into the dog. raw, supplements and intermittent fasting has given me the biggest improvement and will continue that route.

Dogs ate before then???? Whatttt lol
If you told most people that they were going to stop making dog food. They’d say well what would I feed my dog

Personally I never thought much into it before, thinking back as a kid the family dog ate dog can food and kibble, then table scraps aswell pretty much every night.

About 12 months ago I took my apbt to the vet as his skin became very dry & flaky and was very red between the toes, first thing the vet said was what are you feeding him I said about 30% kibble and 70% meat + bones, rice on occasion etc . He said 30% CRAP, stop that ASAP and see his improvement.

From that day he has had 0 kibble, 0 rice. All he gets is raw meat, raw meaty bones, + vegetables, eggs, sardines and a rotation or OILS (olive, fish, coconut) turmeric on occasion.

And he looks 1000 times better, a glimmering black stallion

now do I think all kibbles are bad for all dogs, no I don’t, for simplicity sake i still give some kibble to my other dogs. Just recently looking into what could have been his issue, possibly gluten (maybe yeast - red toes) I’ve tried oats and seems to be fine
