Old ass Red Boy dog

Equipment is equipment. I built a turn table and put a dog on it that was absolutely spinning the crap out of it. Then I remembered I started the test run before I ever figured out brakes or how to stop it. I put my hands on it to bring it to a stop and drew blisters on both hands.

I am not exactly a 'thinker' at times.

I like the brindles myself @F.W.K. which just as well since Skipper spat them out like Kingfish clones, I still see Country Boy's Ventje behind many of the top producing Snooty crosses in EU and they're some good dogs.. I was late to the party on them Snooty dogs but really like them now, one of best I saw was CH.Masada, sired by CH. Hoss who was 3 x Snooty inside four generations, that's got to be a yard starter for anyone.. WTF was I thinking of?

The same. We always called them Red Boy Snooty Bolio dogs. Usually 50-25-25. Then over the years the dogs that were heavier on the Snooty were more well rounded, more durable and could bring it the same. Looking back I think I passed on a number of young dogs because the "Red Boy" was not as high as I 'thought' I liked. Again, not a real thinker.

Not as big as I would have liked. Mine was not quite 16ft. I wish I had made it out closer to 20' but I ran out of room between the trees.

I seen some brake applications with a lever and a lawn tractor belt around the hub. Pull the lever and the friction slows it down.

I did not put much time into the breaks. I ended up buying a lot of really thick leather work gloves. I would use my hands to slow it down or bring it to a stop.

Thanks again slim, I'm guessing you're spoiled for choice on Snooty, especially having access to Mims blood, but wonder whether you had opinion on any dogs bred down off G's Spike? Reason I mentioned is I saw a female that really impressed me and my head's gone into orbit again.

@slim12 ... 16 ft ...i bet that was class ... ones ive seen were only small .. must be great living where you do as we would get reported for having something like that in the back garden lol .... how would you make something like that ? Is it a car axle with long supports welded on ?

Mine was a mobile home/trailer axle. A car axle works better because the gears provide some friction and it is more of a deliberate turn for the dog. The trailer axle is absolutely free. If I hand pulled mine and walked away it would be spin for a really long time.

That is why i got blisters trying to stop it the first time. The dog was getting tired and as he slowed it kept spinning and it was almost like the table was turning faster than he could go. I was afraid he was going to get hurt so I stopped it by pressing down letting it slide across my palms. Dumb ass move but necessary at the time.

And the same. I got rid of mine/covered it up as even tho it is in the woods, in the winter time with no leaves, the neighbors can see it. And one set of neighbors (renters) asked a bunch of questions.

As well as it worked it was not worth risking their interest in what I had on my side of the creek.

Snooty dogs were bred like rabbits overhere in the early eighties. 150 pups sold in a year from one kennel, that populair they were. Dogs were priced at 1800 an small fortune back then and were sold to anyone with the green. Those people started to bred their pet bulls as well to make a buck and soon the prices dropped such as 500 250 or even 50 charched for a pup. Crazy times stupid people.

I suppose it happens everywhere mate, same thing happened with Chan dogs in UK, they got peddled for fortunes, but some was such hard keepers, you couldn't even give them away.. Again wish I knew then what I know now.. I think a few good people got Snooty blood bred down from Country Boys and made some good bulldogs out of it, there was some good blood in EU back then.

They was good dogs mate, properly managed they'd have done well, one of best I ever seen was cross off that bloodline, it was in hands of a good camp, but they got out of dogs, there other tight Iceman dogs around, but to my knowledge it's pretty much died out.. I really don't know about Iceman and Chickie mate, but now you mention it, that would have been some cross.

Remember something like that being said and people used it to discredit Iceman, don't know details, only that Iceman produced some proper nice bulldogs.
