    Nope.

I'm sitting in the dark doing my after night shift wind down, but when it gets light outside I will double check.

    But, nope.

Yes. Based on what I see as Red Boy and what I prefer he is more in align with Red Boy than his pedigree suggests.

    <a href="http://apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=539946">US1 HATCHETT</a>

It is a lot of Snooty/Bolio blood their as well thru Snooty/Hard Tack/Carolina Flo breedings. Even a shot of some Kronos blood via a Garner bred dog.

With that said, the Red Boy has reared its ugly head. LOL

Thanks slim. I read previously the traits you like in Snooty/Redboy/Bolio, also notice you might favor brindle coming through Redboy, now since brindle only a colour, I wonder if it has any significance in your selection and why? Also wonder whether Redboy is where the 'all gas/no breaks' work ethic comes from, or is that just something you cooked into the cross? Don't mean to pry, just interested.:-B

Once upon a long time ago a color was a color was a color. And it did not factor into anything about the dogs except I always liked black dogs more than the others. But as long as they scratched I was their biggest fan.

Then over the years we found two things to be true about a brown brindle dog carrying heavy Red Boy type traits. One, the over whelming majority are hard keepers and knock their teeth out before they fully mature. And two, when bred, they can make bulldogs out of German Shephards. They simply produce at a much higher percentage than their litter mates, for whatever reason.

When I was a kid, way back when, there were direct sons and daughters of Red Boy on the yard I raked shit, watered and walked dogs on. A term used then but not any more is singularly focused, some even say brain lock. When they focus on something it is no changing their mind. Hard headed. Stubborn. Stupid. Relentless. So when I am looking at the Red Boy/Snooty/Bolio dogs now if I see that (for me) I feel like the Red Boy is popping thru. If it happens to be a brindle dog that is all the more better.

Like Brandy is making her mark some 40+ years later.

Back then there were two Red Boy dogs, one straight off and the other off a son. They were chained next to each other. As long as it was light outside these two dogs would back up away from one another, slowly turn their head toward each other and when they made eye contact it was the hardest scratching ever seen. The chains would pop, stand straight out and damn near break the necks of both dogs.

They would return to their corners. Slowly look for each other and then WHAM. All day. Everyday. Even when fed. If they looked up from the food bowls and made eye contact, WHAM.

I like 'singularly focused'. But dumb or stupid or retarded or whatever works.

That is what I look for in one of my dogs before I move from Red Boy/Snooty/Bolio to 'that's a Red Boy dog'.

If that makes any sense at all.

I am not sure that type of work ethic is any more Red Boy than any other family. Hard workers are hard workers.

The being singularly focused can lead to some boosts in intensity and maybe even too stupid to stop and that can pass itself off as 'all gas/no brakes'.

I have one now off one of the more popular Red Boy stud dogs around and he will spin the shit out of a carpet mill but uses my legs like a slalom race when we walk. He will stand on the slat mill as long as I am willing to sit and front of him and watch him. He has a lot of patience. LOL So even though his pedigree suggests a lot more Red Boy than what I am seeing. Again, if that makes sense.

That's a lot of information slim and I appreciate you taking time.. I'm a fan of Redboy cross and followed Mr Banks breedings for a while, knew that he crossed into Patrick and that was interesting at time since the Machobuck x Redboy cross pretty well established now. The traits you mentioned is great insight and they're in the note book so thanks.. Snooty x Redboy already established in Europe now as well as Patrick x Redboy, but like you already said (more or less,) no matter how much of any named dog is stated in a pedigree, the only way you ever get to see real traits you focused on is by seeing them, first hand, in real time, and in working environment.

Yes I made it myself. I did some remodel work on a cabin and used the oak wood to build the frame. I used the longer side boards as the sides and then slotted holes for the axles. From there it is pretty much like any other mill.

Love a good brindle as we'd a few excellent brindle coloured ones decades ago although different bred, Patrick/Hammonds blood it was. Have feed dogs from all kind of bloodlines but have myself no experience with the Red Boy blood what I can remember. The colour brindle is a great make-up for a working dog for various reasons. Recall one of the Country Boys imported one Red Boy male after their " Ventje" blood period but I never heard from this dog again

Why did you box it all in slim ? to protect them from moving parts etc ? I noticed you boxed the back in too ....i am a joiner and to be honest a mere novice compared to you but i would be panicking that the dog never tired and slackened off and went back and jammed its back leg in between the back wheel and the board ... it would be like going through a mangle on an old washing machine :( unless you have a short hook up on to stop this ?? Its hard to see on the video

True. The chain hook up has him positioned where he can't get to the front too far and nor too far to the back.

But I could see if I had a different hook up then the boxed ends would be a real hazard for the dog.

    Good look out.
