They act out by instincts. I doubt if they have an soul as they are animals and no human beings, with brains not bigger then a peanut to think with. Don and I talked a lot about dogs and life in general, although a lot of our conversations ended in disagree, thus then we agreed to disagree, which was fine too for this stuborn" Yankee". Don Mayfield one of the all times greats RIP.

I think all these descriptions of what the dogs do is why there are so many definitions for 'game' or 'gameness'.

The bitch I spoke, compared to any other female I have seen, she ranks write there with them, and actually better than most of them. She simply had no desire to engage. She was a couple three or four scratches away from being a bitch people would talk about. Without those scratches, pretty much useless.

And if she had a bunch of high percentage deep game family members I would have maybe bred her for shits and giggles. But since she was from a low percentage family I always thought the breeding would go even further down the wrong path.

It is not like she quit because she never really started. It is not like she was cold because she had her tail wagging and would drive one all around the box and never stop. She just had no desire to go across. I always felt like that was one hair away from walking away on top.

    Great topic.

The essence of the game is scratching, the good dogs and the winners tend to go in that direction, across back to the action. Anything else is a waste of time and feed in my opinion.
I had a son of Garrett’s Rock bred to Dirty Bills Bubbles. Some of the best Jeep Rascal blood around at that time. He was kept around for years as he was a beautiful strong animal. Some bulldogs just aren’t bulldogs no matter who their mama or daddy is and he fit that description to a T. He didn’t have the instinct to go across. He would fight like a bear and hold his ground.
Some like CH McBramble with a mother bred by crazy Filipinos in Hawaii to kill wild boar in the jungle were very good at the game. The pedigree wasn’t fancy but he sure passed the eyeball test.
He was a 10/10 talent and as deep game as a live one could be. It would’ve been real easy for me just to switch papers and have an ace champion grandson of Jeep but the truth is always more interesting to me than the lie people are willing to pay to believe.
Good bulldogs are where you find them (you just have to know what you’re looking for)

  6. I don’t know if dogs have souls mate?but I’ve always thought they have to be honest.
Just because you got a small sized brain don’t mean you ain’t got a soul.
I was not trying to put Don down mate,I was just trying to stir the image from devil to god.as I find these dogs far from devil dogs..I find them true and honest, and throwing the name devil at a breed of dog really don’t help the reputation of the breed..
No respect to Don watsoever..RIP Don.legend.
And I can also see what Don means when he says this.
I just like to see them more as good oppose to evil..I no Don was not trying to make them out to be evil of course.its just his way of explaining his experience around these dogs.
I remember watching his videos over ten years ago now..I never agreed with every thing he said.but they were absolutely fascinating videos to me all the same.authentic for sure.

It must of been fascinating for you to know Don mate.i bet knowing him was a life lesson in its self.
I bet you could write a good book on them times?
    Maybe you should???

    All the best FWK.
    God bless.

    Oh no
Bulldogs are deep soulful creatures. Gameness itself it rooted in love of life. You cannot love without a soul.

Maybe, they can kill without mercy, which is pretty evil, and on the others hand they show a lot of affection for their owners, which is love, is there a soul required for all of this?, It's something we wish for I guess.

Humans have souls, at least we believe we do. Humans can and do kill without mercy. Just flip on the news, there’s more every day.
We can also lay down our lives for what we believe, which is the highest form of gameness, which is faith.
    What makes a bulldog scratch?
What makes a fireman run into a burning building?
It’s something deep in the heart, the refusal to quit, the will to win. Why did the Romans build the coliseum? Why did they build Churchill Downs in Louisville? Why was Yankee Stadium built?
Easy answer. To glorify the game and crown the winner.
It doesn’t matter if it’s Lou Gehrig in Yankee Stadium, Secretariat at Churchill Downs or Jeep and Charlie at Fowler’s Ice House. We as humans are there to see winners play the game, doesn’t matter if it’s man or beast.
I always said at ‘Saturday Night Church’ we were looking for faith too just like the squares Sunday morning across the road at the Swedish Lutheran Church.
On many a Sunday I could hear them singing hymns while I worked on digging holes out in my pasture.

  13. Awesome post..I like all this post but the fckn Romans were scum man.they were not game, they were a bunch of faggot rapist power seeking cowards.
LOL,great post other wise though!and of course your right.even Noah killed people, his grandad mathuzaler was a warrior to,and must of slayed thousands of bad men.and they were not evil people-infact they fought against evil.
All humans are capable of it.capable to kill that is.
So I can’t jugde a dog as being evil for it lol.somtimes it’s kill or be killed with humans and animals I guess.
    But all jokes a side and I do believe they(dogs,some humans don’t lol)have a soul.i think anything living/mammal have got one..IMO,I’m not saying I’m correct.its just what I believe.

Going deep now, talking about the soul of a dog.LOL.

    All the best every one.

Roman citizens, slaves etc were just like us, their leaders were often fucked but no different than today.
Being a stonemason myself I marvel at what the Romans accomplished. Not to veer off topic here but look around, there wouldn’t be much history in this world without stonemasons to actually build it.

  15. There were stone masons and architects long before the Romans mate.and I two marvel at this stuff my self.undoubtedly the Various Pyramids around the world,Gobeklitepi,Stone henge exc,exc are truly magnificent.
But You be telling me the Romans were the first to built roads in Britain next.
No doubt they did build a lot of things and there world conquest was pretty major I have to say,but apart from that I’m not a fan of them, and I think they get credit for a lot of things that are blew out of proportion.
