Not sure I’ll ever actively seek out another game line dog for ownership…yet this is my favorite breed despite the all the baggage. I prefer the service breeds/working shepherds for a number of reasons. If you are approaching or have reached ‘middle age’ and don’t have a list of regrets to reflect on, then are you being honest with yourself? We all have them. I accept them as necessary, give thanks for the innumerable blessings and move forward. Always forward. You see, the dogs we own past and present are consistent in who they are. They live in the moment and are completely dependent on us. It’s us humans that change, are fickle and let them down, or bring the very best out of them.

I wish i could have worked harder since my young ages. So i could have more possibilitys than what i have now. When you have money and your character is right you can be more happy but you can also make other peoples happy. I wish i could do that more now

I may have posted earlier. I'd get an American Bulldog that would ride around in the back of my truck and look cool doing so.

Then I would bank the cash for :
dog food, medicine, gas, time, travel, missing work, choosing dog gatherings over family gatherings, and all those times I was one broken tail light traffic stop from being in the clink.

    I'd be worth millions. LOL

But now, not so much. LOL

I’d have stayed where I am back to now, taking a different route for years didn’t do me a bit of good, just put me behind.

  5. I wish id kept what i had rather than looking over at the greener grass. Chasing the superdogs and coming full circle. A lot of advancement could have been made and money saved.

Would have stayed out the streets and focused more on bulldogging

If I could start over today, I would stay invested in what in invested in. I wouldn't get caught up in paper chasing, I would be very strict on who I place pups and prospects with. I would stay under 15-18 Bulldog's. I was at 33 at one time. I would certainly not ignore what's obvious. I would talk less, listen more. I would cherish every moment, when I had the honor of learning from my mentor, instead of assuming that "Lady Rampage" rip, wasn't going anywhere. I can still do some of these things, sometimes what hurts the most is being selfish, caught up in myself and not giving back what was so freely given to me. Last but not least, the less people who know where I live, what I do, ect . The Better off I will be. I have had some really good Bulldog's over the last 35 years. One of my favorites was local bred by Mr. Bell.( Rip) Jocko, Redboy, Mayfield' Bulldog's whom I placed with other so called friends and got shafted. Lol. I never lose because I know about winning. Champions believe in them self's when No one else does....

The best dog I ever had I paid $750 for off his mamas tit when he was less than a month old. 4 years later he made his mama ROM and she was on the cover of the SDJ. Not long after that a couple of fellows wanted him so bad they offered to pay off the mortgage to my farm which was about $57,000 at that time if they could take him home.
Sorry boys, I said. I don’t sell dogs.
I paid the mortgage off myself, the dog grew old and died in my arms many years later and was buried under a shade tree on my farm.
In my opinion the worst thing you could do is ask a human or animal to lay down their life for you and then sell them off or abandon them after they’ve proven their worth and done their best.

Price has nothing to do with quality whatsoever. I've spent big and small had good and bad luck both ways. Worst dog I ever had was a bitch off 357 given to me and was a total pos. Although I feel strongly that the best dogs are ones you breed yourself.

Best 2 dogs I ever had I bred myself . The next would be their sire.
I paid $2,500 + 2 pups off of him the first breeding done. I paid it with a smile on my face. I wanted it therefor I gave the guy what he wanted for him. IMO it was a sweet deal considering who the dog was.

Worst dog ever was a gift from a very well respected dogman. She was so far below my standards in every way that I bred her to my best male and sent her back to the gentleman as a thanks but no thanks..

Agreed. I made a couple really bad decisions along the way. I sold Cornbread for what I thought was a fair price. He was sold the same day for triple that amount. He went to a camp where money was no object and proceeded to stop just about all their million dollar dogs. So much so they started calling and tried to buy everything I had. I have kicked myself ever since.

He was $300. I won with his sister as well. $300 for her too.

If I could go back in time I would have let people breed to my males and got their blood out there. Instead I kept it to myself, resulting in very few breedings and their lines becoming practically extinct.

The same here. I hate breeding dogs and could have kept what I had by letting others breed to my males as well.

Thanks for pointing out another bad decision on my part. LOL
