  1. That top one looks real bulldogish...ive been stiring at it now for about ten mins and i cant see no terrier influence watsoever.

Old righters used to link big teeth with terrier blood ya know Dusty.why they linked big teeth with terrier blood im not sure?
a lot of old righters also seemed to think pure bulldogs had small teeth.

I dont no were most of these old wtiters got there info from to be honest.
as i said fighting dogs were born long before the rich, educated, money class started to write about them.

Theres a drawing dated around 1620...the dog in that drawing, it says is a English fighting dog.

They probs existed soon as man existed lol.

I don't know why any one would say Bulldogs have small teeth , ? and if there is terrier in APBT in from 200 or more years back , so would have no influence now ,, the two photos I posted are the same dog Azuma ,,

Bulldogs didn’t need big cutters to hold prey in defense/neutralization/catching. Terriers going into a hole, or a rat pit, to KILL something needed the offense.

Terriers teeth are no bigger than any other breed , bulldogs don't have small teeth

It just looks freaky to see a Jack R at 12 to 18 lbs with big hangers .Vet was a old guy and he said they are biggest he ever saw in a Jack R ..Just turned out that way .

I must admit, I found it strange that my 50lb Bull Terrier had bigger and a more impressive set of ivory that both of my neighbours 100lb American Bull Dogs. Was just an observation that stuck with me from a decade ago..:

  12. Has anybody ever considerd why some(not all)terriers have big teeth?
has anybody ever considerd why some terriers look bullish?
    think about it...
there is not one breed of terrier that dose not have a dash of bulldog blood way back in its ped.
    not one breed.
JRTs..have a lot of bull in there make up.Patterdales or fells are practily half bull in blood..
even Wheatons get crossed with bulldogs from time to time.
the Airdale was said to origanate from a fighting dog hound irish terrier mix.
the courge of the old Bedlingtons was legandery.were do you think that courage comes from?because it dont come from the water spanial or poodle blood!
near on every book about working terrier acknowleges the cross,to increase the skull strucher, and make a more do or die tyke.put more gameness in if you like.
make no bones about it the terrier ows a lot to the blood of the bulldog.

  13. Even blome coms up with it!
blome who was the first to write anything constuctive on terriers.
i dont no,some time in the 1600s blome states that a terrier can be made by crossing a degenarate mastiff(bulldog or small mastiff)to a hound.

    Just thought ide metion that.

Terriers’ teeth look like dentures they are sometimes so big compared to the dogs head! Terriers have longer canines on average than bull breeds, not apbt. Look in at English or American bulldogs teeth compared to a working bred terrier. AB teeth aren’t as long or “sharp” as terrier teeth, “on average.” Bulldogs usually have shorter, thicker canines. You’ll NEVER here “bulldog” ppl say “long at the teeth/cutters on that one!” Bulldogs were to grip and hold, long teeth don’t help. Google up some pics of American, English, or any other “bulldog,” then google some working terriers. Make sure to search for teeth pics “American/English/French/boxer bulldog teeth,” “jack russell teeth,” or “patterdale terrier teeth.”

Abpt have a lot of terrier influence... hence the teeth... They were also bred for a sport that involved much offense and the ability to kill. Hence the bigger teeth...

I’ve always read they added terriers to bulldogs to add gameness to the BULLDOG... I think the bulldog should thank the terrier. Most bulldogs don’t have HALF the fire of a terrier

  17. Thats not true mate...im not sure what bulldogs you have seen to come up with that!?....lol.if your terriers are gamer then your bulldogs then i dont quite no what to say..with that said ive seen shitty bred bulldogs and terriers were gamer.but they were shitty bred bulldogs and not the real article.
What youve read is - just superstition.
terriers are game because of bull blood.not the other way around.
theres enough evidence to suggest im write if you look deep enough.
there is no proof watsoever there is terrier blood in the modern pit bull.
the only proof is faint evidence wrote by posh pompus writers in the 19 century.whos to say there right?
none of them writers were dog men.

Look at modern day terrier men.
    look at the patterdale.
look at its development.its no secret them dogs are full of bull blood.
we all know over here the truth about that one...its quite laugherble.
man patterdales look like small black pitbulls.and act like them.

Im not saying the crossing of bull and terrier never happend.because it quite clearly did.
i just think the terrier theroy;that is the inpact terrier blood has had on the modern American dogs is a little over stated as facts rather then suggestion.

I live in a country where terriers are use a lot , their teeth are normal sized ,their gameness is not the same as Bulldogs , they go to ground and bark till they know they are getting dug to , then they get real brave ,, its a different job to what Bulldogs do , if any terrier ware mixed in , it happened hundreds of years back , and they'd have no influence in modern APBTs ...I think everyone thinks Bulldogs 200 years ago looked like the modern show bulldog , that was invented in early 1800s

  20. ^^^^^^i agree with all that mate...
it needs to be said the bulldog then was nothing like the show version.i think that most defintly needs to be considerd here.
the terriers gameness is hugely blew out of proportion.
we need to consider that when a terrier goes to ground we cant see what the fucks going on down there lol.
even the gamest terrier wont stay in full contact with a badger through out the whole dig.if it did you would dig it out dead.simple.
some do get dug out dead.but how many and what would be the point?
how many bulldogs scratch dead?a lot more then terriers what get dug out dead thats for sure.and even dead game bulldogs are not in the millions.
no.the gameness the terrier posesess is from the bulldog blood.
im certain on it.not the other way around.
if terrier was added(if)it would not have been to add gamness to the bulldog or create a faster fighting dog or none of that.no.if it was added im convinced it was added for rat work.that is:to kill piles of rats in a pit.no terrier will go threw a pile of rats in a pit.no terrier.
but you cross it to a bulldog and it would.

Nice topic ......taken over the Sorrels dogs thread with bull and terrier history lol.

    All the best.
