ONLY IN AMERICA’S CHAMPION TYRONE

Only In America Kennels got Tyrone at the age of 2 years old from his breeder. Tyrone’s first match was December 29th 1990 into Jesse Rod’s Maverick, males at 41 ½ pounds. Tyrone’s side traveled up North for
this one into this highly publicized son of GR CH Midnight. Both dogs came in on weight and were washed and taken to the pit. The referee for this contest was Havana Chico with Cajun Rules. The dogs meet hard in the center as Maverick works the head and Tyrone can’t get his mouth on anything, this continues for 10 long minutes. Tyrone is constantly driving but Maverick is so slick he stays out of the way of Tyrone’s mouth until the :15 mark. At this point he gets a nip at the shoulder, then all of a sudden Maverick leaves himself open and swaps with Tyron in the front end. Maverick sees that Tyrone is too much so he goes back to the head and is back to fighting defense. Tyrone flips Maverick over and drives him into the floor; he appears to be putting a body press on the dog. At the :30 mark Tyrone is in the stifle working Maverick hard and then at :37 Tyrone goes to the armpit and Maverick hollers and makes a turn. A handle is made at :40 and it is Maverick to go and he does for Jesse, hard. Maverick tries to hit the head but doesn’t make it as Tyrone buries himself in the chest. Maverick goes to the stifle as Tyrone works a leg. Then Tyrone goes to the back end and as they swap, Maverick again starts to holler. At :45 Tyrone has got Maverick done and is doing massive damage to Maverick, Jesse’s dog is screaming his ass off. At :53 a handle is made and it’s Tyrone to go, he nails Maverick and works the dog down the walls. It is all but over when Jesse makes a handle at :58. Maverick to scratch and he quits on all four feet. Tyrone makes a powerful courtesy.
Tyrone’s second match was into Bounty Hunter’s Buddy. This is the dog that beat CH Mustard a 4X Winner. He went into the match as a 2X Winner and Tyrone had 1X under his belt. Males at 41 pounds and the judge is Harris Brother II. Both dogs are on weight and pitted. Buddy and Tyrone hit dead center, both going for the shoulder, and then Tyrone quickly switching to the muzzle and catches a bad bleeder in Buddy’s head in the first 3 minutes. Buddy starts shooting for the stifle and Tyrone is keeping him out by laying his side against the floor. At :10 the biting to Buddy’s muzzle had taken effect. Buddy is starting to protect his head and fight with apprehension. At :15, and after 5 minutes of Tyrone trying to chew his face off, a turn is called on Buddy as he lets out a whimper. Buddy to go and he does, hard, and goes for the stifle…he misses, but Tyrone gets Buddy’s ass end in his mouth. Then Tyrone comes out of the stifle and back to his killing shoulder hold as they swap it out at :22. Tyrone then goes to work on the bottom jaw and has Buddy protesting at :25. A handle is made and Tyrone almost knocks Buddy out of the pit as he scratches into Buddy’s nuts. Buddy, lying out of hold, and Tyrone is really ragging the dog out for the next 8 minutes. Bounty Hunter picks up Buddy and on the courtesy Buddy tries to jump out of the pit. This made Tyrone a 2X Winner and set the stage for his introduction to the fast lane in the tough Southern states.
    D. Ham was putting together a show in the Southeast and putting out the weight of a 41 male. The
dog he was using had just won a quick match in :06 by going straight to the privates of his opponent. He too had an excellent reputation and the fight between he and Tyrone was set. The show came up and all the top men from the Southeast were there to see the Shocker vs. Tyrone match, along with three other matches. This show was known as The Holiday Beach Show. Both dogs came in on weight and the judge was Spencer. As the word “pit” rolled out of the judge’s mouth Tyrone exploded from the corner. He hit Shocker with much force and went straight to the rear end on D. Ham’s dog. It seemed to me that they swapped the stifles for a few seconds and then Shocker wanted no more. A turn was called on Shocker and a handle is made…Shocker is taking the count when Bakari releases Tyrone into Shocker. A minute or two more and another handle, Tyrone to go and he does, like he is on rails! D. Ham picks up his dog at :09 making it CH Tyrone now and the holder of three Best In Show trophies, in three shows and in three different states.
He now has the honor of being known as the best 41 pounder in the world today. But just like the great gunslingers of The Old West CH Tyrone was going to have to defend this honor. Country Boy John had heard about CH Tyrone and he wanted to give him a run for his money. He was using a dog named Outlaw that was bred by James Edwards from his CH Chinabuck/Grove’s Rufus cross. This was to be the lead match on an eight match card somewhere in the ever-active South. The day of the show comes and Tyrone isn’t right for this one. His handler and conditioner, Only In America, is concerned as CH Tyrone’s stool is very loose and he is almost 2 pounds light. Bakari goes to Outlaw’s side and pays the forfeit. Bakari is preparing to feed the dog when some comments were made by John that had nothing to do with the situation. Bakari’s response to what John had said…the dogs were pitted at about 8:30. The dogs swapped it out for several minutes and then Tyrone got to where he loved, the chest. By the :30 mark Tyrone was putting the finishing touches on Outlaw. Outlaw stood the line at :58. Tyrone again won Best In Show! In this writer’s view of things, I would say that CH Tyrone is one of the best dogs I have ever seen. Only In America Kennels was nominated and elected Rookie Of The Year for the 1991-1992 season. They have done a stand up job in their professional way of doing things and I would like to personally congratulate them.

Bakari had some good ones. On a long ride to the country one night he turned me onto some old school knowledge. He was a hustler by trade and had an eye for a dog. He also had a network of dog men he trusted. If he trusted you he would buy anything you said was a dog. Bak had dogs from a lot of lines and he won with all of them. He bought, sold and brokered a lot of dogs. Lots of opinions there but there was always a constant....if he showed up with a dog you best be prepared to be bit, and bit hard. That was a constant.

Ch Tyrone was said by many to be one of the best offensive dogs they have ever seen.. Also he was hooked into HC's CH Redman but while emptying Redman must of seen something in the woods he preferred and off he went never to be seen again.. That had the hype to be a good one if it would of happened.

I probably would of been down for a few years personally but he did have a brother to redman who was a damn good one and smoked 2 Ch's for his 1st 2 wins also.. Maybe that's why he didn't take it as hard, my uncle seen Redman go and said the dog was a very fine animal. Said he didn't look like an ace but was just great at everything. Said he had mouth, not one bite mouth but was hurting you with every bite and was trying to end you. Strength and speed and he said his work rate was unbelievable, he put too much pressure on you...

Absolutely beautiful hound, perfect structure.. Look just like a Jeep/Rascal/RBJ should look, and produced a good amount of good dogs as well and I think he only had like 5 breedings.

I would of either passed out from chasing him or I would of knew he ran into a bear or some shit lol. I could never have a good train of thought with a badass hound like him walking away from me. Just horrible luck but least he did get 3 with him and made him a ROM.. With the way he was producing and how they competed he had a chance to be very high on that ROM list for sure.. I think Bozack died young as well, can't remember if it was from kennel accident or from a snake or animal..

I hate to say I never bought that story nor did I think redman stood a chance nor do I feel Big Mike thought his dog could beat my dog. I was to go into church redman for Tyrone's third match. Mike showed up at my home and I was respectful of he and the family of dogs they used. Only that I felt they weren't nearly as rough as the Parker's Quincy Inbred Champion Paladin Blood that had thrown nothing but show stoppers. Mike luckily didn't have to face the beaten nor lost of the Dog and money by escaping that showdown with Chris Tyrone. That's how I saw it. I may be wrong and the dog did run away?

Great stuff brother, I'm going to be 100% honest I'm not a believer in that story as it was told either lol. That's why I said I would of died chasing him or seen him getting eaten by a bear or something lol. You spoke with my uncle from SC years ago he loved your stock and thought Tyrone was the best dog he had ever seen and I know he seen quite a few good dogs over the years that he had acclaim for but he thought Tyrone was just vastly different. It's often been stated that during their hey day that Redman & even Nine Milli were able to avoid the top.

    I called
GR Ch Joey, but McNasty didn't want no parts of Ch Tyrone. He made Joey go down in weight to stay out of my way. Called out Roadblock with Ch Tyrone's half bro Ch Nut Nut who was in Gr Ch Joey's weight class, but Roadblock wanted no parts of it.

I have heard this the very way from way back.

Lots of dogs ducked Tyrone. Better said, owner's of dogs ducked Tyrone.

When i went into Bounty Hunter from Detroit with his Buddy Dog. He called out Roadblocks Gr Ch Joey since they both lived in Detroit and were friends. He told me after Buddy beat that Ch Mustard dog that McNasty was scared to match into buddy. So they were told about what Tyrone done to Maverick Gr Ch Midnites son a brother to whitefoot. That if he wants to go into a bulldog that Tyrone was sure one of them. After they lost to tyrone. They called McNasty saying they just lost to the baddest dog they ever saw and would bet anything that Tyrone would stop Joey in minutes. Then passed me the phone to set up Tyrone vs Joey. McNasty who was taking Joey out at 40-41 now claim he couldn't make the weight, so it never went down. So later on i heard i ducked Joey, so i called and he denied he ever said it. So i said we have a half brother to Tyrone and we can hook them at 38-39 the same weight now Roadblock is campaigning, but care not do it. Yes many ducked.
