Back to original topic, I used the 16" Poulan this weekend and it cut pretty dam good. I dropped 4 hardwoods and cut into two foot sections. Each one was about 40 foot tall and I only had to tighten chain once. How many of you guys remove the muffler from the saw? This is something passed on to me by my granddad..... His nickname is "timber topper" so he knows a bit about saws and cutting timber. Hands down big difference in my opinion, alot louder but performance wise it's worth it if you need to cut faster

Lol I had to drop those because tops fell out in a storm, all were about 60 foot plus and tops fell out. Had to get rid of before the rest fell on any of the dogs or outhouses

Bama one other thing, We got some property years ago and it was very overgrown with lots of Osage Orange, if your not familiar with it(google if you'd like) i will just say it has like 3-4 inch thorns and is hard on chains and harder on your hands and legs, anyway I purchased a pair of Stihl safety chaps and a hard hat with ear muffs and a face shield, and now I wont cut without them not only protects you from an accident with the saw but you can wade through just about anything and not get stuck or cut. was 80 for the chaps and I think 40 or 50 for the hard hat..Summers get hot here but I still wear them sometimes 4-5 hours a day keeps you lean just need lots of water.
