I need a small saw for firewood and I'm thinking of goin with the Stihl MS270 , I think that numbers right.Gone cost me around 400 with the case of oil.I think its about a 50 cc saw.Echo has a CS 590 Timberwolf for 400 with a 5 yr waranty and thatd a 59 cc saw.I have never owned a Echo product but the 590 gets high reviews. But for around 400 bucks no matter what Echo offers its hard for me to pass up a Stihl. Also I think the 270 is lighter which is more what I'm looking for.I been tossin this around for about a month now lol..I just can't turn down the Stihl..And dex Huskies are good when you get into the XP s.The hefty price comes with it to and the XPs are a little big for what I want.As far as just basice ranch saw I wouldn't go with Husky..jmo.

Stihl 271. Only saw I've had so can't compare it to much but it's a bad boy. No problems thus far.

Just bought a Jonsered not too long ago. Kept a Farm Boss 029 for 15 years or so.

The Jonsered turns a higher RPM. Really strong in comparison to other brands.

The drawback to higher RPM's is the chain has to be tightened a little more often.

To offset that drawback it has a flip out handle to tighten the chain much faster.

It is a lot more chain saw for the size than I expected.

Jonesred are as good as any Slim..I work for a John Deere dealership excpet we don't workon or sale farm equipment. We work on and sale logging equiment. So I talkto a lot of pro's and more than one use the Jonesred. The only place I can get a Jonesred in my oittle town is Tractor Supply so this is why I am going with Stihl.Just trying to help out the little man.Funny though , I have to buy my dog food from Tractor Supply , none of the local farm and feed stores have anything worth a damn.lol I have no choice on this.

Husquarna rancher. It's a heavy saw but powerful. I've had stihls, but found them Finicky. to start and re-start
They now sell some powerful electronic saws believe it or not . An Ax and bow saw work great too.

Stilhs are awesome.Thing is you have to be careful and not flood it .Thats what I noticed with Stihl is if you don't know what your doing ,you will flood the shit out of one.If and when u do ,u may as well let it sit for a while.

I think u still could giilagan if you didn't run a quality fuel and use a fuel stabilzer, but I know on the bigger saws u ain't gone have a primer.I personally don't think thier should be one on any chainsaw.Rather just have the choke system. But more than likely folks like you and others who are experienced enough with the big saws already know all the ins and outs .

STihl Farm boss 18" (I think its the 290?), stihl MS170 16", I am going to get the stihl trim saw as well the one with the handle on top. I have lots of tree work-My Dad lives out in OR, the land of huge timber, he swears by stihl and so do I, they have never failed me-I use premium or plus fuel and never have any problems my farm boss is quite old and fires right up every time. I have already had mine out three weekends this year lots of wind falls and winter clean up..creating some turkey plots as well..plus some early poison ivy eradication which is always much easier now.
