That ain't close to the truth. That's like saying "so and so is the best (fill in the blank) I heard of!" I bet you ain't heard of everybody tho..... There's a lot WE ALL never heard of. I KNOW FOR A FACT there are some guys with TOP FLIGHT DOGS that just ain't heard of. Money is a big factor in the dogs, some have more than others. If the sport was legal here, with sponsorship like other pro sports, there would be a lot of surprised faces. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE OUT THERE BETTER!!!!

Well to me a true dogman is honest first of all and makes sure his dogs have the best care and housing. A family and working man, and cares about the dogs and not money.....

LOL Reminds me of a saying I used to toss around when I first met a few fellas......"They better take head, before they leave with an empty lead"! LOL

Now let me start off with saying "I hate to do shit like this". But I gotta call BULLSHIT!

OTC's So Important.......WTF? To my recollection they have been shunned upon more than praised. Also in the scenario described it seems as if 2 guys who didn't want to lose an argument so bad they let their tempers and ego's place a charge in the wrong situation.

It was a gentleman's sport & still is once you reach a certain level of competition or respect. A gentleman is not going to let you pull him out of character. You and your charge are so bad, put in the months of time and wages to prove it. Why half step? If the game was about OTC the keeps wouldn't have been made.

There are Gentleman still out there working with the breed & they are the most secluded and insulated for good reason. Reputation and diligence will find them and open doors. There's one thing I find VERY relevant in these dogs "Your only as good as the company you keep", and that goes for many instances.

Now I kind of get your drift on what you were possibly trying to say, and WON'T argue with your decades of knowledge as I know we all do things different. Just stating where I see things different.

Well if these quiet dogmen have got the best dogs then why not make easy money going up against the celebrities of the sport??

I agree 100% with everthing you have written and would like to just ad that people tend to romanticize the ''good ol' day's'' in everything. They had their share of back stabbing, trash talking, paper hanging, cheaters and thieves as us boys.

A true dogman must first love the breed, no other way to explain it. The sacrifices, the dumps he will scoop up, the scrutiny he will go through at times for just owning them, some vet bills (a dogman should know a great bit). These are some things a dogman will go through while maintaining his family and it's much easier if the family is included. Family and dogs is all he about. He doesn't care to be known his circle knows him and money isn't the issue for them. He sees what he wants to see and trust his circles word. He knows enough people to get what he wants or needs. May register a dog every now and then no big deal because he knows enough about the dogs behind the dog. May not even want winners on his yard but producers and deep game tested one's instead. Ladies & Gents they are out there.

If you never go out the circle, you can't(really)say you have the best in the world...Honestly everyone is gonna have their on prospective on what a dogman is to what a good dog is and so on.... so if you feeding, caring for, and working one dog or a yard of dogs to the best of your ability, salute!

Well understood ladybug123 but I don't believe in best in the world. As far as circles, its just that a circle, people within the circle may go "outside" doesn't mean he has to. But I agree you can only do your best with what you have.

If one person goes out the circle, then that's when things get out the circle(then it's not as private as one may think)... people talk, sometimes way to much ijs

That first line in this response is exactly one instance of what I meant when I said your Only good as the company you keep & that goes for more than one instance. Whether we want to admit it or not some folks fit in a circle, some grown into one, and some outgrow them. Hell it can work both ways you might step into one ya have to step right out of....lol Kinda like the saying If ya can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch. Either way the quality of company kept can help to measure the quality of said animals as much as the quality in the character of said man. A very useful tool IMO.

Shit is just plain silly really you always have people bad talking someone for one reason or the other its simply a matter of opinion when it all boils down to it. If no one ever sold a dog none of us would have a dog, well some of us would but not everyone grew up around these dogs.
