To contribute to the thread. Daily exercise for mine is hand walk, fetch/chase, and a lil flirt pole. That's if weather permits. I don't do the cold unless some frog skins on the line....

Depending on your #s, your excercise methods will be different. If you got 3 or 4, then obviously taking 2 for long walk and other 2 on mill or walking all 4 in one day is ideal. Now if you got 15-25 things change dramatically, truth is you won't be able to walk half of those dogs every day unless you don't have to work or family to fend for. Now you can get tools that 2 nearby dogs could use to work each other out, Tug Ropes and such things. Try walking one or if you have a designated area on your yard that is fenced in, you can take 1 and let him roam free for a good amount of time, rotating as you feeding and getting through the yard. Spring Pole another or flirt pole with another, kick one a ball or you can try running your ass back n forth down the line of your yard.. All the dogs will laugh with excitement and back and run back n forth with you lol

man all kinds of stuff, right now if its 0-50 below he just runs stairs in the house, or tug o war or jumping. summer time we bike, walk, spring pole, but his most favorite thing in the world...frisbee.

I will just say - I got to get out and go for a walk today, as it is finally not freezing, but a few degrees above -
I got to get out anw walk the older dogs about a mile or so each, tried to walk the pup, but he is just barely getting use to a collar - so i let him lead me around the yard a bit. Anyway - I will say, that it was rather nice to get out in the sun for a bit. It was the first day above 30 and sunny since the 2014 - hope some others got a chance to get out and get some fresh air!

  10. It really depends on the day and the season. My dogs get more exercise in the cooler months than the summer because my 7yr old dog has always been heat intolerant. Temperature permitting, he may get 1-5 hours at the bay running back and forth for sand (we do this one a lot), swimming at the bay or in the creek, a few hours in the woods going up and down steep clay hills, or fetch with a tennis ball up and down the stairs when it's too hot. Now I've traded a little bit of time at the bay for about 2-3 hours a day worth of him playing with my new bulldog.

My new bulldog gets an hour long walk in the wee hours of the morning so that I can get in a short bit of socializing in as people start leaving for work. He mostly plays with my 7 year old dog. I also play fetch with him with a tennis ball or kong, but he won't do that for very long. He enjoys a flirt pole. He really loves frisbee too, but destroys them in seconds after catching. I will start him on weight pulling (non competitively) in the future because I think he would really enjoy that... IF his pasterns tighten up. My late bulldog's harness fits him perfectly, so I really hope we can add that to our routine. Of course I train him several times in a day also, but that is more mental exercise.

  15. It honestly depends on the individual day. We go hiking, or to a park at least once a week. We do frisbee, fetch (up/down a very steep hill), and running with a weight collar. Since it's been cold, I generally just let my dog run around on a fenced 2 acres, by herself (under supervision, of course). That's about all we do, but we love our walks and hikes, and will increase that more this year, up to 4 times a week.

in winter time i walk the dogs for a 20min and then they go on the mill, my male dog loves his mill, he comes crazy when he see's him.
from spring to fall we bike 2-3 times a week for an hour.
for the rest on a regular bese ill take the flirt pole.
the female does here own exersising by running like a foul in the open yard.
she stands 3 times a week on the mill for a half hour to an hour.

ones in the week we walk them out for 2-3 hours

I truly envy some of you guys work methods, and the certain freedoms to perform your work in public places without all of the scrutiny. In my area weight drag/pull for dogs is like telling the authorities that your dog(s) compete in certain unsavory sports...which I feel is total BS. Weighted collars, pull harnesses, flirt & spring poles, tread & slat mills will all cost you ownership of your dogs. With so many different dumb ass stipulations I keep everything pretty much simple for general exercise I hand walk 5 times a week for 30 minutes on days that I bike them for 45 to an hour 3 times out of the week. 1 and a half to 2 hour walks when just hand walking. Young dogs get free run time...some play nice with others, some don't. So the boisterous ones get free run time alone, which lengthens my work time. This is one of the reasons that I will never exceed a certain # of hounds that are actually kept on the yard.
