I believe he is talking about before the 90's.... The sdj was and still is the shit! Imho

  2. The SDJ is alright, they mostly take old articles recycle and sometimes butcher them. I have seen them do that with some of Gary Hammond's stuff from his book. Obviously "back in the day" things weren't too much different. It seems like time has a way of distorting facts and memories. I think people repeat that sentiment of "back in the good 'ol days"way too much. People were still getting shot, arrested, beat up, cheated and much worse then just like now. You think Earl Tudor and Don mayfield were great old gentleman? The difference since the 1976 is just the laws have become stricter. same shit as always. Just like then there are still small groups of people that are close knit and work together and stay quiet........that's why you don't know about them, unless you need to

The mags had some good articles and information but many knew of the politics and schemes brewing behind some of the reports, articles etc and steered clear, many of these people sidestepped the post 76 dragnets the periodicals helped bring about and reenforce intended or not, the round up and utilization of the information many editors held was the downfall of many. As were many of the early internet forums for that matter. Some people just did not get it until it was at their gate and still.

I think the Adba shows help keep the athletic dog looking like it should, like an athlete not a short legged potato. That said I feel there is way too much breeding going on ..in the early to mid 80s there were maybe 5 litters from Real Fast dogs a year in My State (Michigan ) and about 5 folks in (Ohio ) Now there are turds on every corner ..1000s of unwanted or low priced on the net and in shelters

As for the BULLY type dog they are a dog and a cute dog and should have it's own class and breed as a Bully (half pit half English bull dog is my guess ?? who knows )Nothing wrong with people wanting them this is America where you have the right to what you want ..

Hi rrosco, I am by no means a fan of the Bully breed dog. Besides the health issues with many of this breed they are often mistakenly called "Pit Bulls" by the media after an attack! This negatively affects the real "Pit Bull" the APBT. They are recognized and registered as their own breed and fall into 4 classes. Here is a link http://theabkcdogs.org/home/breeds/american-bully/standard/

Not a fan of American Bully's at all no breed should have different standards, they are only bred for colour, head size and bulk to make money and a fashion statment.
I don't think many bully dogs are responsible for attacks, they can't even get out of their own way. Mainly back yard bred dogs owned by idiots that do the attacking not registered dogs.

Standards here for unhealthy, bad structure, unfit for purpose, bred cos some idiots think they look tough.

    Walking overpriced vet bill.

I'll weigh in with this I guess.

Do you think the internet and technology has helped or harmed bout breed? Please explain.
I think it has done both. It has allowed people with these dogs to be connected and share information from all over the world. I've made some great friends through the internet and dogs. However that same ease of sharing has resulted in more coordinated spreading of rumors and misinformation about these dogs. It's also allowed the media to further perpetuate their lies.

How do you feel about the mass production of the American Bully? I love it and even talk kids into getting them and I promote them.. Deep down in my hart I hate what they talk about because it's all so far from the truth I have a head ache when I'm done listening to them talk but it's just the same as talking to guy on here sometime.

What can be done to stop the Bully and the confusion it causes our breed?
People breeding bullies need to stop marketing them as APBT. Or, we can distance ourselves from the pitbull name altogether. Both are very unlikely, the only real answer is for some sort of mass education via the media on the correct terminology which is never gonna happen.

Which registry do you feel has our breeds best interest in mind?
In my experiences none have the breed's best interest in mind, although from what I've seen the ADBA seems to be more willing to "accomodate"

Do you feel conformation shows are needed to keep the breed true and the bullies from being mislabeled as APBT's?
No, they're a bit of fun but game dogs were never bred to conform to a standard so it doesn't prove anything. It's gonna do nothing to the bully breeders, they are making a mint playing off the phrase "pitbull" and since most only care about the coin they make why would they stop?

What in your opinion is the best breeding of the last thirty years? Why?
I don't know about the best but Ch Honeybunch to Ch Bo produced Jeep and it seems 80% of dogs I come across have Jeep somewhere in the pedigree.

How do you feel about the ADBA?
They run some good events but they take forever and endless reminders to get even the very basic things accomplished

How do you feel about the EBA?
Never had anything to do with em

Which registry do you use or like the best?
ADBA purely out of necessity, nothing but a headache.

What is your favorite line/strain/family of the APBT?
Really like some of the stuff down from STP's Buck, always been a fan of the Boyles blood. I try not to get caught up too much on big names, rather on the individuals in the pedigree

What cross do you feel has impacted the breed the most on record?
    Tudor x Carver

Which breeder do you feel has /had the breeds best interest in mind?
Some guy with 10 dogs on his yard all bred from his own stock, who breeds tight and culls hard. There are a couple that come to mind

Who was your favorite dog of the past and why?
Plumber's Alligator. Just always thought he looked mean as hell

Who is your favorite dog of today?
A hog dog owned by a friend. Nigerino/Eli/Jeep bred and one hell of nice bitch

Who do you feel as a breeder has impacted the breed the most?
    Earl Tudor

Why do you feel the breed is in such a fragile position in this day and age?
It's a combination of idiots abusing these dogs and then the animal dogooders attempting to redeem their reputation but taking it to the other extreme. These dogs aren't vicious manbiters hardwired to destroy anything to cross their paths but the real dogs sure aren't your grandmothers shitzu either

*Edit on the mass production question

How do you feel about the mass production of the American Bully
Horses for courses. If overweight and health problem prone dogs are your thing, go for it. I can't believe I used to think they looked alright
