Why the traditional game dog is dying in the US

My thoughts on why I think the traditional dog game isdoomed in the USA<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I decided to write this up after seeing more raids ondogmen in the past couple of weeks than Ive seen in quite a while. Something isgoing on and I’m not sure what, but it’s pretty hot out there.

If I had to pick one point when everything went downhill,it would be when Michael Vick got busted. That caused animal control andsheriffs departments to start looking under every rock for people that matchdogs. But its not that simple. Thingswere going wrong before then.<o:p></o:p>

I don’t remember if it was 2002 or 2003 but when Jay Fand Jack Kelly were busted for putting out the original SDJ that pretty muchended the printing of match reports. A few magazines kept on doing it for alittle while, but now days pretty much everyone has realized that’s a reallybad idea. Not only can it get the people who submitted the match report introuble, it can take down an entire magazine.<o:p></o:p>

So no match reports get printed. Big deal right? Exceptthat with no match reports printed there is no way for people to know whosedogs are doing well and whose are not. That leaves it to word of mouth and thehonor system, neither of which is always reliable. That means a lot of crappydogs are more easily passed off as world beaters and bred, bred and bred again.<o:p></o:p>

Meanwhile, many of the old timers were driven out by lawenforcement and the humane society who were obviously targeting anyone that waswell known. That makes sense when you think about it. The big names are theones that someone outside the game dog world are going to most easily identifyand target.<o:p></o:p>

A few of them still hang around, but a lot of flat outgone. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>Add to that the laws have gotten damn tougher! It’s beena felony in most states as long as I remember, but it’s even worse now. Peopleare starting to do long sentneces in prison for [] and sometimes even housesand trucks are getting seized and auctioned off by the government. It’s hard tostay in a game when you are worried about your wife and kid having a roof overtheir head.<o:p></o:p>

When a beginner gets started in 2023, they aren’t goingto have old magazines on Ebay that talk about the great dogs of this decade.Books won’t be printed about the Jeeps, Red Boys and Barracudas of the 2010decade. Maybe they can get something from the Balkans, but that’s not veryrealistic. The days of knowing the famous dogs that show up several times inyour pedigree will be gone for all but the guys at the core of the game. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>I can’t help but think all of this will lead to a war ofattrition where our numbers shrink until the game is about as muscular as theshadow of a crow that starved to death. It’s fast on that path now. But hey,the only thing that stays the same is that the world always changes. Onto weightpull, treadmill races, hog hunting and conformation shows. I guess that’s thefuture. Hats off to the guys that try and keep the breed true, but thatwont be me. I’m not risking it anymore.Its not worth it to me.<o:p></o:p>

 

This is only part of it. There are cash rewards HSUS pays for tips that lead to people being busted. They even train cops for this which seems crazy to me. They work the media so people that match dogs are hated more than child molesters now. They even had MVick telling kids to not fight dogs. I heard they even have a mole that was at ADBA for a while leaking info. It's not going to stop either. The humane groups get too much support on this for them to ever stop. This is low hanging fruit for them.

 

Good write up. Nowadays you just have to trust what your told. Because most times you wont get to see/hear much. Even in peds there are winners that don't list it for fear of the law.

 

Anyone seen the movie Now you see me? The statement below is something that is actually used a lot in Today's society by certain groups of people.

Look closely, because the closer you think you are, the less you will actually see.

Some of what I know has to do with mistakes of my past . Like owning 2 males 2 female and other combinations
and not really housing with true advice from more experienced members.
When your dog gets it's thing going due to your mistake . At that moment your dealing with a accident
that is the same as 2 dog men with a plan . Your accident may end up with some cuts to heal or worse .
After the event and time to ponder you realize ,that was a real experience that could of put up back to england 1800's ,
clearly you are never gong to be able to have planed event outcomes to keep track of

As accidents show any person how socially unacceptable this event is if done on purpose

Well the word same might be not 100% accurate,But accidental situations give you wisdom that some Pit owners that never had a situation don't understand.

For sure I am not trying to equalize any of my situations with Real Game ,So take my comment for what a opinion is and I'll take leave of certain topics I am not worthy of .

 

the "TRADITIONAL" game dog is doomed because organized dog fighting is outlawed, you do it and get caught, you loose ya dogs, ya family and ya lifestlie, or you do it, ya don't brag ya shit on the internet and keep to ya self.

The reason why the "game" is doomed isn't rocket science. Why would a bank robber come online and explain in detail how and what tools he uses to rob a bank !
It started way before Vick or sdj. This so called underground sporty was laid bare on the internet revolution. Every butch that was nobody in the dog game, told of match reports, equipment used and names dropped.

Started off with fat bill and his crazy dogman 2000 videos, complete with match tapes. That was an invitation just waiting to be taken up by the Feds.
Take a good hard look at yourselves. The answers to why the "game " is doomed is pretty damned obvious.

 

Dogs are doomed the same time as politicians stop sniffing coke and ballin' hookers!

If only the government would care as much about the well being of the kids in this nation as they do animals. There is a big fuckin problem in this country with kids coming from broken homes, growing up in violence and poverty and carrying that on to the next generation. So while Americas future is going down the toilet, they are focusing on wiping out a breed of dog. What a joke.

I feel like I keep repeating this, people who care more about animals than fellow humans have clearly lost their faith in humanity and rather than trying to help their own, they want to see animals liberated from us and the demise of our species. Ask any humaniac and they will tell you, humans are just a virus on this earth that needs to be wiped out.

 

LOOK PEOPLE keep your mouth shut and don't tell everybody your business. keep it short and simple.

 

Or move on to other things like weight pull. I won't break felony laws. Not worth it for a game

 

Game dogs will still be around in the future. and yes maybe not as many.

So long as there is man walking earth, the game dog will always be around. Whether it will have the ability to be utilized for the original sport is yet to be determined.
