Anything is possible...especially during a kennel fight. Some dogs are excite bitters. Meaning they are caught up in the moment. I do not know your experience level with the breed but If it breaks out...just be careful. Get you a good break stick. Dont go sticking your hands of other crazy objects in their mouth because you could hurt yourself...or the dog by accident. Usually a dog has one or the other types of aggression...but I have seen both from time to time. Some dogs are just nuts...and if you recently got a APBT and he's older...you might not know what his past was like with humans. So be cautious if that's the case and learn eachother. If its a puppy...you have a good shot at making them how you want them to be for the most part. Good luck! I'm sure you will get more help on here.

Oh it's part of the breed. There's been manbiters/maneaters all through the history of this great breed just some look down on them, and some don't mind them to much or at all. I believe they have their place in certain cases but it depends on what type of man biter they are....I realize many wont agree with that, but it's just my opinion. It's always possible for anything to happen when animals are concerned.

What you are talking about is redirection some dogs do redirect in the heat of the moment either by accident a bite and release once they realize they bit a human or a dog who wants something so bad that they redirect on a human out of frustration but this is not something I personally would tolerate if it's an accident like a nip and let go that's one thing. But If I break a dog off another dog or am attempting to break up two dogs and it turns around and tries to bite the shit out of me I have a serious problem with that. I have broken up a few fights and have never gotten bit but I know it can happen. Best thing is to have a break stick and to remain calm if you have extra hands it helps as well. But there is always a chance for a redirection thankfully I have been blessed enough to not have dogs who do this. I like my dogs from a young age to be comfortable with my hands being in and out of their mouths. While it doesn't prevent an accidental redirection the dogs at least know your hands and are not freaked out by you going in their mouths.

I do agree with Peon....human aggression should not be tolerated. Like he said...during the moment, if he snips at you that is one thing...but trying to hold is another lol. That is human aggression and should not ever be tolerated by anyone with the breed. Or in my opinion ...any dog. No dog of any breed...guardian breeds or whatever should bite their handler/owner. Not very good at guarding if he bites the owners ass lol. Forget the mugger...beware of 200 pound Rottweiler lol

It's possible to get bit even by accident, just because you get bit doesn't make it an attack.Although anything is possible depending on the dog,a mistake nip,a redirection,an excite bite and some dogs might try to eat you, depends on the dog. I won't feed a maneater under my situation, but I've been bit a couple times by accident.

You should it's a good read, and the chapter that okc is talking about really gives you a better understanding of manbiters....it's one of my favorite reads. Got it as a Christmas present awhile back from my wife.

if you play with fire you get burned ... most fast lane animals this goes for chickens horses and dogs are spooled pretty tight and have a much higher chance of giving you a hard time than your run of the mill yard dogs . i have been bitten more times than i care to count but the funny thing is that i have never been biten by a maneater lol none would have bitten be if it wasnt for them mistaken me for something else or then getting all AMPED UP so bad they just had to put their mouth on something . (but i still gave them a tune up on who the hell they were biting ) . most maneater i just stay away from Gary has had few on his yard that would make a lot of tough guys piss down their leg if they got off the chain . . in that yard accident thing watch the dog that aint done yet more times than not when a dogman gets bit its just a real dominate dog telling his owner let me go i aint done, he wont hold the bite but you will want to let him go lol....
