thats wat dogs do! lol but to teach her not to sniff when on the move let her empty out then start ur jog keep her on one side of u and have her lead short and we she tries to brake stride just give her a pull on the lead and her command to keep moving! this is a everyday thing not just once a week samething every day is how most dogs learn! good luck peace and god bless

Why would you want your dog on a choke chain while jogging? you want the dog to breath freely while exercising, like the other person said, let the dog empty out before starting to jog. Maybe you are too slow for your dog and it's getting bored lolol

Or maybe you have not shown the dog want you want from him. It takes time. We worked with 1 of our male hounds for 3 months before he started to get it.

I have some who won't use it when I walk them, that's irritating too. As soon as the leash is on all they think is work work work

Might want to try letting him sniff for 15 minutes starting, and 15 minutes at the end. In the middle of the walk is what you want. That way he doesn't feel like he's getting the short end of the stick every time. It's a lot more natural and beneficial to stop and go any way IMO.

Molly they are dogs and dogs do this and are interested in everything. If you don't want them stopping to smell a bush or look at their surroundings you might try walking them out in the middle of no where with not much going on and little distraction for miles and miles lol. A choke chain is not made to be used in the way you are trying to use it. It's a training device used to correct the dog when need be. Your trying to correct or eliminate completely normal canine behavior. A choke chain is also not a device you want to use while jogging with a dog the idea while exercising them is to allow them to breathe freely if you were jogging would you want something around your neck constricting your flow of oxygen supply while your heart and respiration rate are up? If the dog is stopping frequently to eliminate on jogs than like those here have suggested you can try having the dog eliminate before you start jogging them. Otherwise it's just the normal part of walking or jogging dogs for them to become interested in their surroundings and for them to sniff around.

  14. Stick a peg on its nose lol. Thank your self lucky one of my dogs may as well be a horse just stands eating grass..

  15. First thing get rid of the choke chain. Get a harness. If you do not want your dog to stop and sniff around. You could probably do this. When she starts to sniff give a gentle snap on this leash. And when she gets back on track give her praise. Like saying good girl. Don't over do it. You want to get her attention back on to the walk.

When she stops and looks at houses, do y'all discuss color, architect or landscaping?? Just wondering don't think I've ever seen a dog just stare at a house!! I'd get rid of it. Cause it's like they say, you gotta be atleast 20% smarter than what your working with!!!

Also the sniffing could really work in ur favor because if she or he is tring to sniff everything make her work to get to that bush or pole by making her pull u even harder gotta understand ur hound and work with her a dog sniffig is how they see the world like a blind person see's the world thru touch a dog that use it nose knows how to be a dog some dog dont know this or even how to use their nose! play a game with her take her favorit toy out with u hide it from her then walk a couple of lap then tell her to find her toy build her around her best tools and that seems to be her nose! good luck peace and god bless

  18. I think all she is wanting is for her dog to be obedient while on walks.

I like how the question was brought up.. A trip was made to buy a choke chain.. The dog was walked..and a big difference was noticed in around forty minutes..wow LOL
