I'll throw one out there to get the ball rolling, Lonzo's Angie had a brother from a different breeding named Henley's Big Boy, he was a huge black dog that had a hard time getting a match because of his size. He only fought country style as he wouldn't scratch (major flaw imo) but he did kill every dog he went into including the only dog that ever outclassed him (in his 1st roll). This dog was named duke and he broke off his chain and went after big boy, big mistake, even though big boy was the chained dog he killed duke after a long fought battle. Maybe big boy wasn't the best of all time but he was devastating and was a good finisher, who know what might have happened if he went into some of the more well known names in a country style match "to the end".

Seitz/Mountain Man's Jake lost his teeth early, but according to everyone I've talked to who saw him, he was as good as any. He was a big dog, 65-75 pounds.

I can't even imagine handling a bulldog that size. That would be a helluva dog to control in the corner. I thought a 50lb. as a monster.I can't even imagine a 70 lb. plus Bulldog. There has been some great oldtime big dogs Pinscher, Big Boy ,Alligator,Butcher Boy, then you have newer ones like Mayday.Any of these dogs would stand a chance against any dog of any era because they was that good. Its hard to compare dogs and people from different eras. Its really not fair to the dogs of the past because people say they wouldn't stand a chance now a days for what ever reason. The reason I say its not fair is they beat what ever was in front of them at the time and thats all you can ask for.But to say they wouldn't have a chance is just wrong. Now be realistic don't compare a 54 lb to 80 lbs.

No shit. Gaud... my Mayfield/Clouse x Hemphill/Wilder boy is 95 pounds lean (house dog weight lol) and holy hell he's hard to hang on to when he wants to go WITH a collar. I couldn't imagine trying to hold him in front of a strange dog with no collar on even if I was a huge man. lol Not implying he's match dog quality but shit... he's a freakin power house. My collar bone ACHED for the first two years I had him. So glad he's 13 now and "kinda" slowed down. I only out weigh him by 20 pounds! lol

Love all the info on the catch weight dogs as until Salem, all my dogs have been on the larger side so it's always interested me to hear about the big ones that have done well. lol
