that collar will pull on the neck . you need your neck to do just about everything . you get your bite and front leg strenght from the neck . your shoulders go when the pipe keeps going . i may be old fart . but i aint no dumb ass .

  4. This may be a dumb question but,, why would there be a reason for a dog that is working a catmill to suddenly go from a full run to a full stop????
I would imagine that when it's time to take a dog off the mill it would be good and tired and not running at top speed, in fact it should be barely trotting...

Someone was asking about a catmill that the boyz in the phillipines built. Probably the best track I have ever seen for a catmill,,, but still not done the way Mayfield said to do it,, as I said, not one yet has built their catmill the exact way Mayfield said to do it and that makes all the difference. But here are a couple of pics of some catmills, including the one over in the phillipines.

Has anyone seen a pic or have one of Don's actual setup ? If so can you post it to show what the "ideal" setup is. Like the track on the bottom photo looks like a rubber surface.

no expert at all on the subject just my opinion but i think the banking of the track may help with the sudden stop issues to some degree lower rate of speed the dog will trot or walk at the bottom of the track higher rate the dog will run higher on the bank and when it slows it will gradually decend to the bottom

  15. Mengor that is simply a beautiful set-up and as I said, probably the best laid track I have ever seen. There was a man there who used to make some real nice slat-mills, I think he was called the millmaker but I have not seen anything around from him in a number of years now, are you this same person?

Maybe you could comment on your catmill and if you have ever had any injuries to your dogs from the catmill?

    Once again,, great set-up!
