cut tail

well i went on vacation and had a friend watch my bitch, she was gettign excited and hit her tail on something and cut it open, i have heard stories where the dog had to get the tail surgically cut from infection. i have been putting betadine on the cut but she keeps hitting it open, just wondering on what else i should be doing? thanks guys

 

How bad is the cut, firstly? How deep? Where on the tail?

Looks stupid, but you can use self-adhesive gauze and wrap the whole thing, and put an e-collar on her to keep from chewing.

 

its not bad at all just small cut on the very tip and cracking a bit, the hair is falling outs on the sides she keep hitting to, i dunno if i should crate until it heals up or just keep a close eye on it

Try to keep it dry for sometime and keep her calm,maybe put something on the tip that she does not like.
