I know eggs are beneficial with dry kibble or raw diet. Do you feed them scrambled or raw. If you feed it raw, do you not feed it with the shell cuz i heard the shell has some nutrients in them too ... just seein what you all think or do yourselves. Thanks.

o, and im guessin whenever you do throw and egg in. How many times a week and do you feed less of raw or kibble when you do add an egg?

I give my dog the whole egg. Take him out in the yard and let him crack it himself and he eats the whole thing about once a week. I dont cut down on the kibble when feeding the egg because he works every day anyway. If you are feeding raw then an egg is considered a muscle meat and will be weighed in and balanced with the rest of the meal anyway.

If you had a non working dog you could cut down kibble by a quarter cut when feeding an egg. It all depends on the dog and what you want to do.

I myself usually scramble up the eggs and devide them amoung the dogs in their kibble meal. I just do it when the eggs are approaching the due date. I don't know why, but I buy eggs all the time and nobody eats them except the dogs. lol

Eggs are good for extra-protein and fats, the bad part is it has sodium so it helps retains liquids if giving in good amounts. Dogs do not have cholesterol problems so its a complete meal, specially when working a dog!

I usually hard boil them and smash it into the food(no kibble).

One soft boiled egg a day with shell per dog. Use to feed them raw till I noticed the white come out the way it went end and was like "what the hell?" Researched it and found out why.

When do you guys start giving eggs to your dogs? My pup is 9 weeks old is that to young?

I have about a half dozen eggs that will be bad in a week so I hard boiled them just a little and was going to give 3 to each of my dogs within the next week but is my 9 week old pup to young to start on eggs?

Break it up a little and put it in front of the pup and watch what happens.

Ya other people do. But im not 100% raw diet and i figured his kibble or whatever your feeding (im guna switch to honest kitchen) im not gunna feed the sheel cuz i figured his food already has enough calcium as it is. But see what other people say too, thats just my opinion and there some people here that actually know facts lol

Yeah Break it so they can chew on it. Most all pups I've seen will fight over them. From 4-5 weeks old on up.

Thanks for the info. I gave one to my pup tonight and he went crazy on it lol. I walked up to him like I was gonna take some and he moved his body in front of me and started eating faster each time, was hilarious.

I never feed my dog with raw eggs but I heard that raw eggs are best diet for the adult dogs. After reading this thread I realize the benefits o the eggs for the dogs.

  18. Soft boiled with shell is BEST (2-3 minutes boiled, with white cooked and yolk soft) when you feed a dog a raw egg, it takes more energy for them to digest it then the benefit they get from it raw, so if you soft boil it, they assimilate it better. I keep the shells from my eggs I eat, and grind them up for pregnant females for a calcium source also.

If you boil the egg, the eggshell loses the calcium. Don't get me wrong boiled eggs are a good thing to feed dogs but it's better to use eggshells that haven't been boiled. Use 1g of crushed eggshell per 454g(1lb) of meat for your calcium/phosphorous ratio.

So reading this im now confused you SHOULD or SHOULDNT feed the shell? Iv always not fed the shell being told there was to much calcium in it
