Mouth & Bloodlines

  1. Mouth & Bloodlines

I would like some opinions on, what other bloodlines and strains are statistically known and proven to carry heavy mouths in the genes. I know of a few E.G. Alligator, Chinaman, Eli, etc....
All the well known ones but is there any from other strains and bloodlines that are not widely known that will be making an impression to dogmen.

i once asked a similar question to an old friend and he told me that there are heavy mouth dogs in jus about every line of these dogs but the hardest part is to consistantly reproduce the HEAVY mouth dogs no matter what line...eli, gator exc..so i learn its best to follow the dog in interest himself and not the line.. it took me almost two yrs to realize that. i had some carver dogs off the redman line breed down into some eli/nigerino dogs even did an inbreeding within these same genes most of the females were a cut above average the males didnt pan out ..none male nor female had the mouth of the dog who the idea was @( a heavy mouth dog that came off a heavy mouth dog) atfer that experience i got far away lines that are so say to reproduce heavy mouth and focused on health and drive (game) on average not matter what line ur gonna get more average mouth dogs then heavy mouth dogs even if the the line is said to have the heavy mouth im not sure of ur reason for this question but if ur tryna add mouth into a line it would b safe to go with wats already wearing that reputation of average mouth dogs on a consistant bases

Well for starters mate thanks for the advice and a sensible answer unlike some kids on here. And to Hammer Head if you are reffering to the red nose king dog on my pics which was posted like in 2007 when i joined the forum just an update he has been dead for at least 2 or 3 years now took in a raid.

I know certain dogs with traits can produce themselves in the offspring, but this is not always the case. I was really trying to find out if any 1 bloodline showed more consistency for producing heavy mouth dogs than others, as majority of redboy dogs are known to be game but have no mouth, whereas chinaman dogs are said to be more mouth an not much gameness, but every dog is different. IMO the bloodlines do help in some ways of breeding as they say certain x's work an others don't click, like jeep to redboy click and other out-crosses may not.

I do know the game always comes first as that's the whole purpose of the pitbull. I was simply asking for the reason of a heavy mouth out cross that would go good with a game dog adding more traits or more of a trait can only be a good thing i assume.

My bolio dog's gots great mouth. When i breed to a eli/jeep female with a smaller head it didnt click as well, all but one has a small head.and littel mouth, but moma had a small head and dady has a big head.seems the bigger the head the more harder the mouth.

Khanfueshus says head size does not determine mouth.

In the 25 years ive been around dogs as my life i disagree. Not that a small head cant have more then big head.it plays a big roll.

  15. Re: Mouth & Bloodlines

So what about over or under shot jaws has anyone found these a problem with holding onto objects etc... Or preventing a dog from fully clamping down what is the ideal bite scissor bite, reverse scissor or does the position of the dogs teeth come into play.

I know some love to mock but let them mock end of the day these are common occurrences in dogs and its nice to know what people opinions are on them

There is sertaain mucles on the head that u can look at and see if hes going to crunch if thats what u ment by big head yes but overall big head doesnt matter.

I wasnt ever a fan of the underbite and i still prefer scissor bite but I've seen a 31lb gyp with a horrible under bite that could bite and hold a hog with the best of'em. Little bitty ugly dog but she means business when she locks on.

  20. Re: Mouth & Bloodlines

size of the head doesn't matter. but if they look like their holding 2 golf balls in their mouth, more so than not they can crunch. most undershot dogs i've seen can really do damage. turtlebuster dogs are consistant with having hard mouths. for me it's gameness, ability, then the mouth should be added if needed. i've had more bitches throw mouth than males....
