wisdom teeth

So, on Tuesday, my left upper wisdom tooth started bugging me. I didn't really think anything of it because the upper ones bug me all the time. They came in when I was 16, crooked, with big holes in them, and are pushing up against the rest of my teeth. Usually any kind of toothache I get is temporary. Well, come Wednesday night, it was so bad I had to leave work early. I called in the next day and Friday I was miserable when I was there. I left as soon as I could and went to the dentist. They took xrays, hooked me up with some Hydrocodone, and booked me an appointment to get all my wisdom teeth extracted on Thursday.

How many of you got wisdom teeth? Did you get all 4 or only some or even just 1? Were there issues with them? Did you keep them? Or did you have some or all removed? How old were you when they came in? How old were you when you had them out?

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to get them all pulled or just the two problem ones. They quoted me $2400 (before insurance coverage) for all 4, and I can't afford that.... if I leave the two that are fine, that will cut the price in half. Gah!!!! I haven't even paid off my hospital bills from a few months ago, now this. Really?!

I have all mine top ones came n ffine bottoms ones gave me the most most problems they cut up jaws was painful and they are also impacted. Gotta make a extra effort to clean them probaly gonna get them taken out cause they say they can cause problems later on just don't want to have to deal with the surgery.

 

I had mine out cos they impacted the bottom ones that is as i didnt get any top uns :confused: cost nuffin on nhs but felt like id been hit with a bat fer a few days :mad:

 

had mine removed...all 6 of them! i was part of the lucky few whom are blessed with an extra set of wisodm teeth-mine were on the lower jaw. they were impacted, but surfaced at a 45 degree angle, thus cracking a molar. my insurance dovered the enitre surgery.

 

Had all four removed...that being said you can get a nasty infection leaving them in. My dentist said people die from infections like that. I would get them out if I were you.

 

I had all of mine yanked out of my mouth. I hate going to the damn dentist.
Mine came out when I was about 16 also and they didn't give me any problems
until I was about 26. But I know what pain your going through and it sucks. I
had shitty insurance and I dished out about 1400.00 for both sides. But after all
it made my mouth feel better. They were also pushing up against my teeth. Do your self a favor and get those Fookers yanked out.

 

Must be nice peppa and crazy horse. :rolleyes: My insurance will cover 500 for the first year I've been with them. It will be 2 years this month I believe but you know they're probably gonna round it down to save money..... bitches. If by some miracle they will consider it 2, I can get up to 750.

Midnight Cowboy, I think they're infected pretty bad right now. I started getting sick Thursday. My sinuses are all jacked up and the drainage is irritating my throat. I lost my voice yesterday at work. I had a few people tell me I felt like I had a fever. I know its from my teeth because I never get sick and my allergies are under control.*sigh*

You know, I find it weird that they didn't prescribe me antibiotics. :confused: Can I go under if I've got in infection?

 

I am no Doc CrazyK9 but I would at the very least get on an atibiotic don't wait on that. Especially a fever that indicates some sort of infection and yes your teeth can and WILL absece and lead to infection of sinus. Go to the doctor.

 

I've heard stories of people dying way back in the day because of an
abscess tooth.:nopity:

The good thing about livin in cali is by law I'm covered wit med ins till I'm 27!

 

I had all 4 of mine taken out, thru out the years, if its your mollars all the way in the back, get rid of them all if they are bothering you, they r not that important as the rest of the teeth and premollars,as far as I know, your dentist cannot proceed with surgery if your teeth are infected, as the anestesia could have no effect on your mouth.

 

only my uppers came in and completely backwards, but i had enough room in the back for them to not even bother me, and they have nothing wrong with them, other than me having to get used to me chewing my gum once in a while on accident. so i never bothered to get mine removed.

 

I had all 4 of mine taken out. All were impacted, laying on their sides and growing towards the rest of my teeth. I'm glad they're gone.

You definitely sound like you better get those things out ASAP before you get bad sick. Good luck!

 

I got all four of mine taken out when I was 15. It was only a very mild pain by the time they were removed, but they were fully developed. Waking up from anesthesia was so much fun

 

still have mine but dose sound like you need to get them removed.

 

i just got mine revoed this year back in feb my upper right side started hurting i have insurance only paid 80 bucks for top and bottom and a month later i did the left side but they had to put me to sleep on that one cause it was really impacted paid 160 for that cause they had to put me to sleep and each time just took one day off work and let the drugs do the talkin lol but you take all 4 out try to do it on a friday so youll have all weekend to rest

 

I have the day after off but not the following day... hopefully I won't need it but if I do ill call in sick.

 

I FLEW to GUADALAJARA, MEXICO from LAX, stayed there a WHOLE month. Thanks to my parents having a house there. PARTIED MY ASS OFF!!!!!!!Had 18, 18 year old girls walking around naked around the house serving me martinis, and cooking for a whole month all UNDER $1500 bucks!! including dental work , + 350 round trip plane ticket. These suckers here quoted me $6,000 :eek::eek::eek:.. work just as good if not better!!! YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A TRY. and for a quick tooth PULLING, run to TJ, for $40.00 bucks a TOOTH, that $160.00 for all four!!
