Yes it was. Lou only has two litters a year between him and his sons. He's 89 years old and after breaking his neck, and declining in health, he's slowed down a bit, and doesn't get around like he use to. I call him every once and a while. He's an interesting guy to talk to. He can recite pedigrees 50 years old like it was yesterday. Truly an old school dogman like no other.

 

I own a colby, and jeep blood came from colby .theres alot of good blood out there but colby is the purest.

 

and redboy came from colby too! many great dogs did.. finleys bo was was an amazing producer.. ive been looking into some g/c magnum blood lately, he has something like 14x finleys bo in his ped... and he was a solid dog/ producer as well..

 

when we were in prohibition the criminals ran the boozes. the booze were gut rot. When they criminalized the game it went to the punks and criminals. Allot of people that would never make it in game when it was legal, are the experts now.

most of the bullshit about this blood comes from people that never owned them.people use and know whats around them.it seems to me alot of the hate comes from the south ,no doubt in part that there not as common down there.writing off an entire line,most likely do to what they have been told is just retarded.at the end of the day all blood and bullshit aside it just comes down to the individual dog.

Never been into that Colby Stuff, but I do remember of some good dogs pedigrees that they had some Colby in them, can´t remember the dogs names but in my oppinion Colby dogs had been quite popular and therefore bred by people that are not breeding performance dogs.

So I do think there would be some worthy dogs with Colby in their peds.
Just think it´s a matter of where to find them.

I do like the look of these dogs as they are handsome animals as far as I remember, but they are not of importance to today performance stuff.

I do keep Hammonds / Sorrells crosses and they are pretty old actually.

So I´m really not up to date!

But I do remember a 90ties dog that had a dog called Lucky Stripe or so in his ped and as far as I know must have been a decent dog.

 

Just had nice phone conversation with Mr. Colby still sharp as a tack and will turn 90 years old in 10 days. What a class act we all could learn from!!!
