Its strange how Buck and his offspring or even the tight or inbred dogs down from him look so much like Tombstone.

I agree Mashaplan, either way he was bred he diffently has that Tombstone quality of durable late finishers...
Wheteher PP sold Buck with a true Tombstone ped and changed it later to a Heavier Bolio ped because of ego and the Bolio was his foundation blood and he either didnt want to admit how much the tombstone influence helped those bolio dogs or PP had more Bolio pups for sale than Tombstone, nobody knows...
One thing for sure is Buck is a PP dog of Bolio and Tombstone linage, lmao...

You hit the nail on the head! Buck was a very desired stud in the East and was more desirable than Pat's Bolio studs. Tombstone was a better stud than Bolio and Buck proved that!

DidnĀ“t Pat change his ped after Golden Boy loss?

I believe Buck to be a Maloney dog. My question is which way did he produce better? To those who thought him to be a Maloney dog he was bred more to the likes of other Tudor based lines Greenwood Giroux and the like (Tiverton Gina Girl), as a Bolio dog the famous Boyles, RBJ crosses became predominant (Yellowbuck Butkus Buster Brown). What side then produced the more complete package?

I think the answer would come with the cross of both...

I guess is you might be right. A better question should be are there any notable differences ? Bullet and Buster Brown ended up on the same yard in Europe both completely different dogs ; it's also been said that the Zero dog might have actually been sired by Bullet and not Buster Brown

People are just guessing. Build your yard by what you see. Guessing about a dog who has been dead for 25 years is fruitless.

I've only seen Stone City Buck dogs, on top of which the baddest bitch I ever seen was part razor edge, and there was a part gottiline part bulldogge that knew what to do. On the eye test, maybe I feeding the wrong breed? Didn't think so, forums like these are to share knowledge, compare and contrast experiences and interact on an uplifting level. Sarcasm and pessimism unless coupled with humour are much less productive

It doesn't matter how she was bred, to me, unless she was a show dog. I know peds mean a lot, kinda, but damn. I thought these "were" performance/working dogs? Buck been gone a long time. IMO it doesn't matter how he was bred, but how his offspring was bred. They didn't sell BUCK, they sold his pups. Same with EVERY other famous name. If you breed and work your own, or just breed, peds shouldn't matter much cuz YOU'RE KEEPING THEM STRAIGHT! If you show dogs and buy what you show, then I can see you wanting what you paid for. Peds are an outline or guideline as to what MIGHT work or what worked in the past. Breed to what will compliment TRAITS not pedigrees or bloodlines IMO

Truth. You have said it correctly. My question is not so much to argue which pedigree is or isn't correct but is there a notable difference in traits based on the two different understandings of how he was bred? That is to say is there a difference in Buck/Greenwood type and Buck/ RBJ or Boyles type?

I see. I would imagine the traits bred for would make for different dogs. I don't have anything down from Buck or his crosses, I'm an Eli man. From lookin at those peds, Red Lady has a couple different origins. Oh well...

I suppose everyone see's things visually a little differently. I personally see a much closer resemblance to his grandmother "P. Red Baby" than Tombstone. Which would make me lean toward the Little Tater X Red Lady ped. But in the end it doesn't really matter any longer.

Two ways to look at it imo, first way it really does matter a lot if you liked Buck as an individual dog and you are trying to breed dogs as close as possible to him. Then you surely need to know which is the correct ped or how he was bred, been doing a long research on this and that's how I can across this thread.

Second way to look at it is to say fukc I don't really care to "clone" or breed dogs like Buck, I love he is blood and what to have dogs as close as possible to Buck's traits, I don't really want to have another Buck. In this case you start looking for dogs tight Buck dogs out of proven dogs.

For me I fancy option one.

    Thank you pistola,
Personally I don't believe the "current" ped is the right one, I might be wrong since all I have is nothing but pure speculations. However I would like to ask the following (pls if I am wrong correct me, I am pretty new to dogs, however I love genetics and genes)
    1) What are the most successful litters sired by Buck? Awesome baby, and Daisy Mae? Add more pls

    2) out of the dogs that are sired by Buck which are the most successful performance wise and producing wise? Miss Leaky, Butuks, Gr Ch Yellowbuck, Blondie? Pls add more

    Same questions for Indian Bolio.
    I registered to the
