If you want the best then go to Hurricanekennels.com
Otherwise stillwater is the way to go.

Contact email for your needs is: strongstuff@hotmail.co.uk. His phone number's on the site. I've had/seen 3, 5 and 8 ply collars from him. Not only will they handle all your usual Bull & Terriers, but they handle our heavier-duty Presa Canario dogs from the old working lines too.

Tell Aaron Dan (DanUK) put you on to him. He deals cash, up front, sent by recorded delivery, but is 100% solid, reliable guy. I just put down another £150 on collars with him that's how reliable he is. Whilst I've seen equal quality, I've not seen better.

  5. Do yourself a favor and just get in touch with Shane @ Stillwater. His hardware on his collars is top notch and puts that junk on that link to shame. His stuff is solid stainless steel, not malleable iron, which just looks like stainless steel.

Once you buy his stuff, you will never go anywhere else IMO.

I understand and appreciate what you're saying. The toughest collar in the world means nothing to me if my dog knows how to lay down and roll his way out of the buckle used on the collar. The disign on that buckle is what I've been looking for and I just cannot find the supplier I used to use. I've had some of their collars for more than a decade, and its just time for some new ones. Like I said before, I know Stillwater makes excellent collars, they just don't use a buckle design that gives me the worry-free use I need without having to tape, zip-tie, and rivet the loose end down. When I spend so much for a collar, I don't want to have to do that to it.

i used american eagle or abercrombie and fitch belts for collars... i dont know if thats what youre looking for, but it sounds like it. just a 2' leather stip with double d-ring and you can cut it to size

In the "collar making" business, it is common to put the D ring at the end and to sow the buckle about 2 inches up the collar. This is a mistake. In this situation, both the buckle and the D ring are stressed. I have seen stitching fail and the buckle slide to the D ring making the collar about 2" longer...long enough to slip over.

If the buckle is at the end, and the D ring is back...then only the buckle is stressed, but it can't go anywhere because it is at the "loop" end of the nylon or leather. In this case, the D ring is 2" back and it doesn't stress the stitching or rivots. In fact, if the buckle is in the loop and the D ring is slipped on...neither would even require stitching as the tension itself would hold it together...The D ring could even just be "slipped" on without even being sown in and it would still work fine. This is how the best collars are made.

Tell your collar maker to make them this way...and they will last longer and your dog won't slip the collar some day should the stitching give way. Tell them why. They can even post the information on their site if they want to. I don't care. I just want to see more collars made correctly.
