Irish its really up to you. I've got them both ways. I lean towards the ones sticking up with axle rings over the buried ones. Except when its dark and you forget and trip over one of them. You remember the next time though. Fonzie my dogs dont like kennels either so I just tell them "STAY."

I don't think i'd like concrete but funny thing about the pic is all that cement and the dogs are on cheap snaps instead of swivels.I have been guilty of using snaps but only for a quick tie up when I needed something now and I replaced ASAP. I'd of skipped the cost of the cement and got swivels and bigger water tubs.

I wonder how long a chain last on that setup. Especially with a dog that runs the chain. We replace some chains here every 3 years with the soil having just a little sand in it on the chain runners.

Not a fan of these types of "yards" prefer a kennel inside a run.

Trees or a plywood lean on the side of the dog house. Half cut 55 gallon drums full of water to sit in and plenty of water to dring as well.

a sheet of plywood but it depends on the location of the dogs. my dogs are in a wooded area and i dont need to make shade because of the trees

My yard has a full cover canopy from the trees above where my dogs are.. Very little sun shines through.

That's the same way mine is.Lots of leaves in the chainspots but they get good shade that way.

  15. Does anybody know if chaining ya dog in Texas is considered illegal or unethical? Heard this from a dog owner. Wondered if it was true or not

    Google Texas tethering laws.

depends on the city. when i lived in the city limits of dallas it was. when i moved out of the city limits it wasnt illegal even though i was still in dallas county but in a different city.

  18. thanks, Im checking into this now. I wouldnt think it was illegal being it usually keeps the dogs from getting out of yards and what not. Thanks again

  19. so after googling it, I came across this -
An owner may not leave a dog outside and unattended by use of a restraint that unreasonably limits the dog's movement during certain times of day or during extreme weather

A restraint unreasonably limits a dog's movement if the restraint is a length shorter than the greater of 5x the length of the dog, as measured from the tip of the dog's nose to the base of the dog's tail or 10 feet.

Also if it is in an unsafe condition; or causes injury to the dog.

Does not apply to running line, pulley, or trolley system if the collar meets requirements

Class C misdemeanor unless previously convicted under this chapter – then a Class B misdemeanor

Does this mean then if i have a dog on a chain setup, his well being is not in jeopardy, he has easy access to food, water, and shelter, then Im in the clear? A setup to where the dog can move around and not be in any kind of danger within the setup

  20. nice setups guys.
