Anyone know how to build or purchase a practice weight pull track?

    Thanks! :)

  2. Andrew Peabody used to have a pic in his gallery of a nice garage set up. I don't know how technical/professional you're looking to get, but basically the cart set up and used carpet over the garage concrete to simulate a track. I definately copied him lol. I used indoor/outdoor carpet, etc.

    Thanks SE! :)

I'm not looking to get too professional, since it will just be for my personal use. The hard part is, it would have to be outside, so carpet on concrete is out. Carpet on wood maybe??

Right now I am just using drag weights in the yard, but I don't think that will get my guys pulling the high weights I want them to.

ABK: I sent you a e-mail............Check it out......

What I did for my outside set up, was costly, but works VERY nicely.

10x40 cement. At the end of the cement, when it was wet, we inserted 5 bolts, all along the very end of the cement (where the dog would finish the pull)

After the cement dried, we put on the carpet. We put 5 holes in the end of the carpet, right where the bolts were. We then put a 2x4 across the end of the bolts and the carpet, wraped the carpet around, and put the bolts on. This way, the dogs are pulling the carpet against the bolts/wood and it never gets bunched up.

When we're done pulling, we roll up the carpet and cover it w/ a tarp so it does not get weathered (I live in Michigan, so I don't use that outside one obviously in the the months of Nov-Mar)

I think I have about a grand or so into that set up. One way I wish I would have made it cheaper, would have been to only make it about 6 feet wide or so.

I hope this helped and was not TOOOOOO confusing:)

    Thanks a bunch Andrew! :)

Sadly, my land lord frowns on us putting up a fence in our front yard, let alone pouring a concrete pad. So that is out.

    :( Sorry about that.........

What I did before I had the cement, was I used a cart from TSC (it's the big monster cart, good for 2,000 pounds) on grass. It is not 'ideal' in my opinion for a competition, but it will work nicely.

MOPULLDOGS once told me, if I was pulling on rails to just have them drag weight in between 2x4's. Put the 2x4's like 5-6 feet apart (to simulate rails) and have them pull them to you.

I have a buddy that pulls and ALL he does is drag weights, he adjusts them according to if he wants to do a long distance or a bunch of short distances. His dog pulls very well.

Have you ever pulled before? I am not an expert, but I think I have some knowledge and am no longer a 'novice' but a 'intermediate' puller:)

Hope some of this mumbo-jumbo helps:)
