It is simpler than one thinks, speaking of Skipper dogs. Back in the day if you were after a pup down off the ROM would you trust a pedigree that has him in it or would you listen to your own eyes?

Limey got it from some American old timers I bet. Chow chows have black pigments, cur dogs, American Bulldogs, Dogos I bet do too. I’m sure it has something to do with being more “animalistic” if that makes sense. Maybe a throw back to the war dogs or game dogs of the past. Red shine in the eyes, black spots in the mouth, all the same

I always wondered about his typing style. I can understand one THINKING and WRITING a certain way with dyslexia, but TYPING? How can you consistently type the same words wrong? My guy avoided spell check at all costs. I miss some of his thought on the Alligator/Hammonds blood, always been some I wanted to try

read a dna profile
it may seems jibberish at first but if u consistently and consistently test for the same 15 marks it will make sense
also read up on coi and other methods of calculating inbreeding and u will realize that genotype is the most simplistic form and one would better concentrate on fenotype but to go deeper use COI and other variations to understand what are we actually breeding

infact I would advise anyone who breeds dogs to actually get educated on this
I followed and was am certified on several courses in regards to breeding , DNA and genetics
those courses are provided by your local kennel clubs

it opens a world and I have to say with all modesty can create a bloodline with a small yard
the most complex issue is when u understand now add traits style etc

at a certain point all dogs walk the same , train the same ,shit the same and u think u got it than wonder where did the mouth go

to give u an example on genotype
used to have a bunch of brindles , they had less mouth but dam they were winded
the black ones oh wee

later didnt get any brindles but the black ones no mouth , super winded and super game
go figure

 

in the sdj of somewhere early to mid nineties there was an announcement that the name limey kennels was transferred to big d kennels

and i suppose a jet black dog..like Eli or Bullyson is gonna thow dogs with plenty of black in the mouth most of the time....
but i have owned a dog with Eli in its ped and it had no black at all in its mouth...maybe Limey meant it indicates heavy Eli blood?...and i have to say the dog i had was NOT heavy Eli..

Strange one that with the black spots in the mouth , never heard that afore .... someone did write about dr death saying he knew them montana dogs inside out ... he said that the strawberry brindle ones in any litters were curs ... reckon he knew the traits that would come from certain coloured pups in a litter

 

I will inevitably look at my dogs mouth to see if it is so true. LOL

 

I guess you meant 'believe your own eyes'and suppose the answer would be 'yes' that's what I done, but still don't understand what that has to do with black mouth colour? First thing my eyes looked for was gameness and performance, never considered mouth colour, coat colour or even pedigree.. I bred to CH. Scotsman's Max, CH. Bash, Black Max, Sid, Batty, Thai and others purely on the basis of their character and ability, never looked in their mouths not once, but I kind of get what you're saying and the arrow head/diamond mark shown on below photo of CH. Max was a focus when choosing pups, although I have to say I never got any haha!

Oldguy whats your opinion on the colour thing mate ? Have you ever noticed certain coloured pups in a strain threw certain characteristics ?

 

No. Not sure 100%, but I believe he told me this face to face. So it probably looks the same in his own language.
