With very heavy hearts, my daughter and I laid Niya to rest today. It broke us both.

Niya, more popularly known as Lil Miss Geach, was hands down the best dog I have ever owned, there is no comparison to what she was. Niya was really a one of a kind gem and she will be missed dearly for quite some time in this household along with those who knew her well.

I shed tears even writting this as she was my best friend for over a decade. That dog had more loyalty in her toe nail than any human I knows entire being. She will live on in our hearts and through her offspring.

If you were lucky enough to get a pup off her, cherish it, there will be no more. We are going to miss you dearly ol girl and this home will not be the same without you in it. It was a great run while it lasted and you'll forever be a major part of this line of Bulldogs.

Until we meet again ol' girl, Rest in peace.....

Photos are her first picture followed by her last....

I'm sorry for your loss. It's truly like burying a family member . I know all about it. We have to think of the good times that we had and we have to always remember we are all born to die and every day is a gift. .. that doesn't make it any easier. My condolences go out to you and your family..

    Thanks, appreciate it.
Her daughter is due starting today so thankfully, my mind will be busy within the next few days and the following weeks. It will help us get over it, especially my daughter. She has been devastated since I made my decision 3 days ago. It really broke her heart which just made it that much harder for me. I don't ever like to see my babygirl cry.

It's crazy to me how many dogs have come and gone here over the years yet there are those very select few that really touch your heart in a total different way than some others do. She was a very special dog to me.

The only dog to ever live from birth to death in my home.

I looked at her pedigree/prime photo. Good looking dog. If you suspect her death at ~10 was possibly premature, curious what you suspect led to it. And was there a noticeable health decline? I haven’t owned many dogs, but have yet to get any dog passed 9.5, admittedly. I marvel watching my friends 10 year old GSD with worn down cutters running down and bruising up decoys, and having to get choked hard off his bites, then whining for more.

Same thing that happend to her mother. Uterus cancer. My vet says it's common in older females that were used for breeding and not spayed when finished being bred. She told me I can solve the problem by spaying them if I wont be breeding them anymore so I'm going to start spaying at 8 since I don't breed a female after that age.

I noticed the symptoms about 3 weeks ago. They'll bleed a lot, more so than a typical heat cycle and there is a lot of clear and even sometimes milky to yellowish discharge. They come off food as well. In a 9 day period she only hate half a strip steak and 2 Salisbury steaks. She refused everything else I tried to get her to eat. Skin got real flaky about a week ago. By last week she didn't even want to leave her cage nor would she even lift her head when I walked into the room which is not normal for her. About 4 days ago she had to be carried to be let out and had no balance at all when standing on her own. I let it drag on much longer with her mother due to my own selfishness and reluctance to accept the reality unfolding in front of me. I was not going to do that with Geach so I made the decision. My vet assured me It was good timing this time around as she surely would have gone much further downhill at a much faster pace this coming week.

I'm ok with my decision. I think my emotions got the better of me not so much because I had to put her down but becasue of how bad it affect my daughter. This was her childhood dog. It devastated her and in turn did the same to me.

I've had a lot of stress and just foul shit going on in my life the last several years and having to put her down was just the icing on a shit filled cake for me so It just kind of broke me yesterday. I'm just numb to it all today. Feel kind of dead inside and it really has very little to do with having to put her down as I know it was the best decision for her quality of life.

    Life goes on....

You did the right thing. My Dad always says a dog is only around for so long, all a guy can do is be good to them while there with us and you should have nothing to feel sad about when there not. I know much easier said than done. My friend is a vet tech and she says the same thing a old unfixed female most of the time go rotten inside. She says it happens much more in old unfixed females that have NOT been bred. Same things with unfixed males when they get old prostate issues. Dog and man alike. You and your daughter keep your chins up! Things will get better! Bad times just mean good times are right around the corner my friend.

With out death we wouldn't appreciate life.

My daughter has learned this life lesson more than a kid should have too but it's just a part of life. In the last 2 years she has lost her 2 Great Grandfathers, 1 Grandfather, 1 Great Grandmother, 3 Aunts, 2 Uncles, 1 Cousin and her childhood dog. Her mother and I have extremely close knit families so she was pretty close to them all.

I've raised a very resilient, self secure, strong willed and strong minded young lady though so I have no doubt she will heal well in time.

In my life experience, the most hurtful thing I have ever felt was witnessing her heart break right in front of me and there wasn't a damn thing I could about it other than assure her it is what is best for Niya. She knows it to be true as we went through the same thing with Niyas dam M.I.A.

KK knows the deal, she's been born and raised into these dogs and has seen them come and go for her entire 14 years she's been alive. She's been a apart of every breeding done here wether in house or someone sent one here to get bred for the last 10 years and a major part of the day to day routines with these dogs for the last 5 years.

I have no doubt that when Niyas daughter gives birth in the next couple of days here, KK will bounce right back in the thick of shit with these other dogs here. It's just in her nature to not give up. She's always been that way.

Sorry for the sentimental babble. I'm stoned off shatter. Lmao.

One of my females went through the same exact scenario you described that your Niya went through agk. It happened last year when she was 10 and it ended up being pyometria. Went through her heat cycle, albeit a shorter than usual one, then just kept bleeding. She eventually stopped eating, was very weak could hardly walk so I took her to the vet with the intentions of putting her down. The vet looked at her and convinced me to let her do some xrays and a few tests. Pyometria it was and when her uterus was removed it weighed over 4 pounds. So they spayed her as well now back to her ole self. Very grateful the vet convinced me otherwise. Older female never had a litter so I learned a valuable lesson that day.

Sorry for your loss, and more so for your daughter.

My Mims Bonnie bitch was the same. I bred her at 8 and did not really plan to do it again but she was close to 10 and acted like a three year old. I bred her again. She had 4 and raised 4. About two years later, maybe 11-12 she fell off just as you described.

The last day she perked up, walked around a bit and layed down. I said tomorrow was the going to be the day but she passed in the night.

    It was a sad day.

Best of luck with the daughters and especially to your daughter.
