The supplements are good..but real vegetables have things and does things that the supplements can't to the digestive system, some vegetables have natural antioxidants, etc..

Bullshit.... Dog's only digest vegetables when liquefied anyway. So anyway, what I provide is more than adequate.

 

And veggies don't contain Cobalt.

 

I'm not saying what your feeding isn't :adequate" bro..I'm just explaining what I've read before..check out the spring 2015 issue of the adba magazine and it explains the benefits of feeding vegetables and which veggies and fruits are good/bad for dogs..this lady had a great looking dog that was ch in conformation shows and said she was using veggies in her feeding program for decades..I'm pretty sure it's a fact that fresh vegetables contains things that your supplements doesnt..again not saying that your doing anything wrong..j

Amazing how many people on hunting forums here in the UK recommend shite food that starts off with cereals and meat and animal derivatives as the main ingredients and they swear by it for working dogs. May as well feed em corn flakes and macdonalds.

When we had A big yard we just butchered A old pony. Takes A couple hrs. with two people, A great supplement and Lone Star we bought in bulk.

 

Your comparing a herbivore to a carnivore. Ones system specializes in pulling nutrition from plants the others system specializes in pulling it from a meat source. Veggies for dogs should be pureed for maximum digestive benefit. Cali Jack actually wrote an article on this that was pretty well written.

I also agree with treez, I have yet to feed my dogs cheaper on raw than on kibble. If you got a hook up on a bulk meat source then maybe but if not, it's not cheaper to fed raw. Been trying to do it for years and it's always more expensive and time consuming. Maybe if you only have 1 or 2 dogs it might be cheaper but if you have more than that and no hook up on bulk meat, your paying about the same or a little more to feed raw as it would be to feed kibble. Take into consideration time spent preparing meals and running around looking for deals and it's now more expensive to feed raw.

 

It may not be cheaper "if", you add commute time... but "if" you just compare the kibble to raw, raw is cheaper (as low as 1.10 per lb), "if" you're feeding a quality fed.. .ijs
