Dogmen Conversations about Man-Biters and Man-Eaters

looking at the pictures with barbie and the kids,,, plus the cats I thought the same thing or that the gambler had one of two other things...

I believe theres a balance between the little rascal nanny dog and the zebo manbiters,,,
with that being said I also find it funny when someone speaks of the little they know,,,
I too like to romantisize with my first mentor mr stratton about the perfect bulldog,,,
But also come to realize perfect to mr.startton,,, MYSELF and even mr lady parts,,,
can be differnt to the tudors,,, the mtn man,,, and mr adams whom had other agendas...

The difference between mr startton,,, myself and mr lady parts is two of us understand that we are in the minority
and most these days that are really competing could care less about anything besides winning...

So, "point blank", is a dog that nipps in the box an unacceptable manbiter?

 

Some of yawl dont seem to get it....A dog that BITES a MAN is a MAN BITER, regardless of the reasons why behind them or the severity of the damage. Although there are many shades/degrees/types of man biters, what it all comes down too is what each INDIVIDUAL OWNER can or will TOLERATE.

P.S. Elias when you said stratton was your first mentor did you mean stratton himself or his books? LOL

I concider and have always done so, a man biter to be a dog that will bite you with intent and enthusiastically for a vast array of reasons but it's different towards different people. A man eater I consider to be a dog that will hit anybody in reach simply because your in reach. I view a dog that will nip you because your holding it back from what it wants but wouldn't bite in any other situation as an excite biter. All of them I suppose are man biters however if we are saying that a dog that will potentially bite is a man biter then every single one on the planet is a man biter since all have the potential to do so under certian circumstances. I keep it in the 3 groups I posted to judge what to do with the dog. These terms crack me up and keep conversations going in circles. Everyone wants to be so correct lmao. What I concider a man biter could be the next man's man eater or your gamedog could be my cur. I thinks folks spend too much time generalizing and labeling. For the sake of conversation though I will put my generalized term to definion:

Excite Biter:
Dog is typically very well mannered around people. When held back from something preventing it from getting what it wants while in a state of excitement, l will nip at whatever is holding him back. Not full on engage in the act just enough to make whatever is holding it back cease to do so. I will keep one of these dogs as long as they show me they are worth the risk.

Man Biter:
A dog that will bite a person for a vast array of reasons, most involve situations where it's owner is safe but anyone else in the immediate area may not be. They will fully engage a human with little to no provoking. Too much risk for me regardless of how good I may perceive the dog to be.

Man Eater:
This is a different kind of animal. It will both engage a human but also its owner. Really anyone indiscriminately for whatever reason it feels like attacking for. The dogs you hear stories of that the owner had to throw the dog it's food and things like that. I have no tolerance for these dogs as they are sure to bring big attention negatively to the breed as a whole, their owners, you financially if it does get a hold of someone, the headache to have to worry about it daily for the life of the animal etc. It goes on and on. Those dogs would get buried here. Way more responsibility than I am willing to partake in.

That's the thing about generalizing and labeling though, everyone has their own. This post lays out my own belief on the subject regardless of how others feel or think. In my own expierences, those are the 3 biters, or how I classify them. I also take into account the circumstances around that's making the dog want to go after a person.

The facts are, they will ALL bite under the right circumstances. I have very people loving, stable tempered dogs. You reach for me wrong and everyone of them will bite you even my sweetest of dogs. Does that make them man biters then?
I don't think so but you may....... I'm not against people who can manage such a dog as a man eater or biter or whatever you want to call them keeping them but I won't promote it personally.

 

Well I call the excite biters nippers, one that may give a slight nip as if to say like scrappy dappy do " lemme at em". A man biter one as the suggest one that will lay the ivory on a person, and more than likely the person crossed a line and is at fault or something of a sort of reason. A man eater well, that's one that wants to do more than bite, one that will kill and eat your remains chance given. I've had nippers, I've had biters that would chomp somebody that came on the yard if I wasn't in site so they knew it was all good. And I've had one that would try to fucking eat anybody but me and two other people, regardless of situation. I mean literally the sight of a person in the distance fired him up

Well AKG I agree with you 110%. Everyone has different views on this topic and many others topics as well. For me an excite biter (nipper) that is working is not enough reason for me to cull one, as no one but me should be touching em in those situations. The rest get a permanent nap around here.

 

a good way to express it AGK I had and kept the excite and man biter as you call them, even now I have both. the dog at my back door is a protector, that's why shes there. it all depends on the dogs I guess, and how good you can take care of them. never have I had company get dog bit here.

 

The way some are talking, it's like a hound won't BITE(per pp), but just nip in the corner...

To me nip is nipping, a bite is biting...

Now if bolio is a nipper, and not a biter, he was what he was... I have seen video, where one is actually BITING, at the handler... And when released, went after the handler. Handler jumped the wall, so did the dog...smh lol

Again, if a hound bites/nips, it's a man biter (just insert what saiyagin said right here.

As I said I have hounds right now that would eat you, if I'm not around... I know what I have, and how to deal with them...

Once again there are many degrees/types of man biters regardless of the reasonings behind them or the severity of the damage done....blueballover is the only one that listed most of them types in his short but precise post.

Its just so funny how some people think that a dog nipping you is like your gal giving you a hicky LMAO. Any bite/teeth that causes some sort of damage to flesh and hurts like heck including a "NIP", is a BITE, how much more simpler or clearer can I make this sound? LOL Also its so funny how some people think that excite biters only nip LMAO Next thing you know we are going to be debating on what constitutes as a nip as opposed to a bite LMAO....I am done though as I feel I have said enough on this topic and those that get it get it and those that dont, oh well LOL.

 

Well when I say nip, none of those nips have broke the skin lol sometimes it's as simple as them closing the mouth close to the skin. Lol I got one that will grab you by the pants leg if you try to leave her chain spot before she gets her fill of petting. They are all kinds, I tend to look at the intentions to get a feel on what's acceptable or not
