Brindle Patts

I saw a sweet little cropped eared brindle pattxbull cross named Sanchez? Maybe. I tried looking the guy up but I guess this was from awhile back.
I also saw a few online that I was told were Feist crosses.Don't know but they hunted bang up job too.
Does anyone know of any small crossed dogs around out of hunting stock?.I had a good one I loaned to a friend and got her back 3 weeks later, chewed to bits.she died the next day.I was told 5 different stories. And still don't know the real deal.
She was bad and I seen her single handedly kill coon on a few hunts.
I had big plans but back to the classroom lol.

 

Nobody seen brindle Patts?

 

I have never seen a brindle one. Even my Patterdale crosses are not brindle.

 

That's a really old photo of that pitterpatt sanchez.I'm pretty sure the guy that owned that dog had him doing weight pull.Brindle patts are just pitterpatts.Years ago I seen a couple of small jack russells with brindle patches which I thought was really way off.I asked the owner about the brindle but he kepted his breedings a mystery.I'm thinking those jacks were an 1/8 pit which makes for a good working jack.Jacks are great little dogs.

Just always thought they were kind of cool.Seen some little red brindle pits long time back, no bigger than a patty.Bet they would have worked something over fierce .

 

The Bulldogs I've used for hunting and breeding came from Netherland gypsies, who bred best to best and didn't care of the pedigree. I only know there was an X-pert AmStaff involved. I have heard the other ancestors were mainly out of Alligator and Sorrel line, but that's not for sure.

 

My first Bulldog in the early 80s was a big white Monster with a red eyepatch, who came from the OFR. But his blood isn't still running in my breeding.

 

I read the gypsies and tinkers kept little working breeds and sometimes bartered with them. Interesting..

I like the dogs who were bred by them, because they bred them for several purposes.
They don't bred only for the pit.
They bred them to save their property and they use them for poaching.
Also their dogs are intelligent and healthy.

 

I think there was a picture of a brindle fell type in plummers "the fell terrier".my own bitch throws 50percent brindle pups(shes1/4apbt)

The gypsy dogs ahve aalways been sort of a mystery as peds were worthless and the best that put food on the table were bred...
Stories of gypsies sending terriers and lurchers on farms to steal poultry and livestock are interesing as well...

The Jack Russel stories are not far of as I have heard of some bigger jacks that had some bulldog in them just as alot of modern pats...

I love both the jacks and the pats and have pushed the subjrct of crossing the two cousins to anyone that will listen, but no takers...

I personally think the looser genes inthe pats make for a more stable terrier and think jacks could really use the cross...

It seems it would take alot of selective breeding several generations of bulldogs to the terrier and retaining the terrier quality of going to ground, it would seem that the cross of the two terrier cousins would take alot of the selective breeding out as both are of the type...

I can also see where the bulldog terrier cross can be useful if you are hunting bigger quarry such as snakewidomski nice little pack...

The plummer terrier is a fine example of differnt breeds being selectivly bred for an objective...

The Jag"d terriers are also a tough bigger terrier that can really catch, there is a video on utube that shows two little ones baiting a bear, very couragious...

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANYONE CROSSING PATS AND JACKS???

 

What would you like to know about them?

 

so you have crossed the two terriers, what are the results???
did the cross offer anything that the parents families didnt offer???
Jacks are known to be very energetic, did the cross slow them down???
vice vresa did it make the pats more energetic???
How due they hunt in pairs or groups???
or did the hybrid vigor make any of the offsping more hardnose???
How about the next generation, what will/has it been taking back to??? the jack or pat and why???any availble???

I got more if youve studied them thoruoghly I can keep going...
I know of a couple that hunts and shows jacks and have a couple pats that they say are better hunters and easier keepers,
his thoughts are the jacks are more stable and the jacks might jack that up...
the people that desire a high dollar jack dont want a mutt and they have bred and showed them for over twnety five years...
If he bred the two I would jump on the oppertunity to raise one and evalute it, if it goest to ground I would personall breed it back towatds the pat for reasons mentioned... the problem is he gets over 1k for the jacks and only half that for the pats and no one from one side or the other is interested in the cross...

 

what do you know about them???

another question I have that you cant answer is...
with the bulldogs we have noticed when outcrossed we tend to get bigger dogs...
and when we breed tight for some generations they tend to get smaller...

so, when the two terrier cousins were crossed, did they tend to get bigger also???

Yes, they were bred for their owners, they were bred to help them. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Patterdales over here in the UK are known as the Bulldogs of the working terrier world. I don't know of anyone over here that crosses the two breeds, it would be like a bulldog man crossing staff into his game dogs. Jack Russell's can still be good earth dogs but on whole these days they aren't quite on par with the Patterdales, I would say they have more intelligence and a better nose though. Hard dogs have been the fashion for the last 25 + years of the working terrier and the Patterdale is the dog of choice.
