Looking around other threads I have heard of people using cutting boards to make break sticks, does this work good? How thick does the cutting board need to be? If anybody has made any out of cutting board before can you post up some pics? Thanks guys.

might look into them. Do you cut them down at all? Want something that I can just throw in my pocket when I take the dog for a walk.

Good ? pics would be nice. I've seen someone take a hockey stick and just cut it, and had some hockey tape on it for grip haha. it works though. I've seen people use hockey sticks and drill holes on the bottom and put lead in it for a fish beater too. And by the handle they drilled a hole and put a leather strap through it as a strap. I'll see if i can't find a pic.

yeah thats what I was thinking. 5 bucks for 5 or 6 break sticks, hand 2 to a friend and keep 3.. one in the house, one in the car, and one in my pocket.

The thing I don't like about the plastic cutting board breaking sticks is that they are flat and the only way to use them is by twisting them sideways and prying on the dogs mouth. This is not the proper way to use a breaking stick, but it is a good way to break your dogs teeth. A breaking stick should be round like a hammer handle. Direct steady pressure should be applied inward into the dogs mouth with no twisting or prying. This way the thicker part of the stick gradually pushes your dogs mouth open. Just my two cents.

Hammer or hatchet handles and a bench grinder. Takes about 15 minutes or less.

make some shitty one out of cutting board and keep them here and there as a emergency type break stick but make a good one out of hammer handle and for primary use.... its just a small investment under 10 bucks.

I have always liked to take the left over plastic from a 55 gallon drum i cut out for a dog house and make a few strips out of it about 2 inches wide. Then i grind the end of one side into a long point. They are great to have laying around close and easy to use. They are made from the top of the drum because of the 1/4 plastic. PLenty strong enough!
