Puppy nutrition

Like the title says, what do you feed your pups?
Any special supplements? Not necessarily stuff that comes in a bottle I just mean any clever food item, any good secrets? I getting a male bulldog pup and I'm down for some good suggestions to help my boy grow to be the best beast possible. This is a quality dog too! Very excited!

 

I think some puppy food is over rated. I just feed them adult food but if I did feed puppy food. I would go with something like eukanuba or something along those lines. So, when you getting this pup? Gonna hook us up with a ped? Got me interested!

Mine gets Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream formula. Sometimes I add meat drippings, eggs, or canned fish. Last night I gave him a tad bit of Wellness Core canned food mixed in with his dry kibble.

 

Damn good puppy feed, good feed for keeping weight on hard keepers as well.

 

THats why dogs get weak joints and their legs develope all bowed out. Adult food doesnt have enough calcium.

 

I've been doing it that way for 20 years and none of my dogs ever turned out that way. First time it's ever happend was to 2 pups I got from a guy that the mother has bowed legs bad and dogs weren't taken care of very good.

 

well u got lucky. maybe ur feeding real good adult kibble that has high amounts of calcium. I have seen it dozens of times over the years with people who feed adult food to pups.

I agree, and I also think you need to be feeding the pregnant bitch puppy food during the second month.

 

eukanuba ratings r not very good the other ones r good but like i always say in other ones i use hi-tek naturals no by product dogs love it try it its cheap and good the best

 

puppy stage is the most important part of a dogs development. i used chicken soup puppy plus supplements. my last pups got totw w supplements and did well.

 

You can also feed a pup too much protien and get knuckling over at the knees. Just like people, dogs are different. I have fed TOTW to puppies before and had no problems and recently had one who knuckled over. So I then had to look for the lowest protien I could find and supplement with calcium and vit. c.

 

yeah i use TOTW Pacific Stream Formula since it's lower in protein. never had a problem with it.

Canidae with some canned chicken soup for puppies, mixed in real well,
all these canned foods for puppies sure smells like tuna.
this pup keeps putting weight on fast. I used to run him till people say its bad for his joints.

If I make soup, or a pot roast, the dogs get the broth and veggies on their kibble as well as skin and fat. If I'm doing something with fruit, they get some fruit.

And I give human supplements. Vitamin C, fish oil, vitamin E, glucosamine, chondroitin and diatomaceous earth. As well as apple cider vinegar (with the mother).

 

This pup was on raw and a puppy vitamin.

 

Is green tripe (I use canned; Tripett) ok during weaning? I give it to the mother and the pups went crazy for it! I was thinking of mixing it with the soaked puppy kibble (Innova puppy) to encourage them to eat the kibble.
