Fact is Irish definitely had pit dogs , English had them , America has had them a long time now, since dog fighting is over looked by the law in Russia, they have them . as does Japan . all countries have there own flavors , since there is such a variation of sizes and looks with the breed it's safe to say as the years pass they are one pot of soup but i am sure if you went to Ireland you could find some one who can say these dogs have been in my family since 1800's hence you got your Irish staff.

 

I also have to believe the Irish dogs played a major role in the Pit Bull.
