We used PVC piping as rollers (believe revolution uses steel conveyors ;)) and the thinest carpet possible. I think it was called Paradise at Home Depot, cost 49 cents a square foot. No plush to it at all.

i used the 'runner' carpet for years....the kind you lay down a hallway to protect the flooring...it used to have a nice backing but like a lot of things the manufacturers went cheap....i have looked for a suitable replacement but have not found one i am satisfied with as of yet...it is hard to drop cash for an experiment....in the pics of the mills listed i see the carpet is right side up...it works better (smoother, more durable) if it is put on walking side down....
i will try to post a video of mine in a day or so....i may start making them to sell again soon....i will get the video up and see if there is any interest...i also made a set of plans to build the mill but the computer they were on crashed and all i could save was the mill itself....the roller plans were lost... i may try to remake those and sell a plan set for those who may be interested...a quality mill can be built for less than $150 with minimal skill....and minimal tools...a mill that when pulled with one hard hand pull will give 3 1/2 to 4 complete revolutions....slow walk or trot and it gives the carpet mill effect....open him up wide open and it is really close to a slat mill for speed and free turning.....US1

The only bitch i have that runs the carpet is the red bitch in the video. She doesn't use it often, just depends on the type of condition I want her in. Thanks for compliment!!

Bring Backup on the next mill you make Router slots for the front roller so you can adjust them . It will take out the excess slack in the belt and will stop the belt from bunching up under his feet and sliding side to side . Keep making improvements and good luck

Yours and Purepits are very nice, both look sturdy to me. My parents have a treadmill that's collecting dust in their backyard & i've been trying to coax them into giving it to me. I guess I'm gonna have to steal it from them one day :D It's more like Purepits with the two round cylinders on the front corners. It should be very easy to convert to a carpet mill.

Hey Bring Backup I was looking at your newer pics of the mill, and I thought of something you might be able to use. You see where the deck starts in the front? Well I noticed that the white material on the top comes to an abrupt stop along with the wooden part....possibly put a gradual angle on the front so the carpet isn't running into the edge of that material possibly causing it to turn even more free, and be a little easier on the carpet. Just a suggestion....then again I have never built a mill so.....just an idea.
