When a dog is human agressive does it usually start at a young age? I got a pup that's 7 weeks old. She's a ball of joy. Till feeding time. My mother in law tried to take her food bowl to put food in it and she growled at her and bit onto the bowl and wouldn't let go. So I told my wife (I'm away for a month at a time cause of work) to put the other dog in the other room cause she lit into him for trying to eat her food. So I told her try feeding her out of your hand for a while. She tried this for the first time tonight. The bitch got mad and bit her. So then she Put the pups head down in the food in her hand and the pup ate but was shaking the whole time. 10 min after feeding time they're sitting on the couch and the pup growles at her and runs over and bites her on the arm............suggestions?

THANK YOU!!!!!! All these AR fanatics almost had me thinking you should wop a dog but you got to let them know who boss is. (I always thought) my wife was afraid the pup would take that as a challenge. I've sopped every pup I've ever had and it worked on them but this one is special. She's a little more fiesty than any other pup I've raised ( which is a total of 6)

Sounds more like an unruly pup than an aggressive dog. From what you've described I think the pup needs to learn her place. Its normal for pups to test the waters and see what they can get away with. Its much better to get the dominance issue cleared up while she's a manageable little pup instead of an adult dog who decides to challenge you.

Feed from the hand. While feeding play with food in bowl gradualy allowing the pup to eat from bowl provided there is no verbalizing. Scruff when needed with a firm NO. At 7 weeks you should not have to beat that pup.

Sounds like that pup could use some crate time aswell. 10 min after my pups have eaten typically thry are in the yard going potty or in a crate resting.

Don't hafta beat him like you're fighting for the heavyweight title, but you can't be afraid to use a little physical force. Just a little smack should be enough. If he challenges you, grabbing him behind the neck and holding him down will help get the point across.

I agree about the unruly pup thing but I'm not there so I can't tell for sure cause I only know what I hear. But I've never had one who would hold a grudge 10 min later and try to get even again. I suggested that if the dog don't act right when the food is in hand, take it away and try again like a half hour later. This is my wife's first bulldog so I really want it to be a good one and I think it is but I'm asking more for her sake cause if it was me the pup would have got back handed. I just didn't know the best way. I also suggested picking her up and making her look in the eyes while saying NO.

a whop on the head will clear up any food aggressions the pup feels like it needs to show. i'm not talking about stomping the thing.

the dogs don't own anything therefore don't get to growl over anything. i bought the food and if i want to take it away i can. all you can do is sit there and hope i give it back.

Usually after the meal is the dump and then she let's her sleep on the couch with her. I really appreciate the responses from everybody, I got high hopes for this one and I like the spunk a lot. She ain't scared of nothin, not nothin. I like that and she needs to know who boss is but I don't want to break that spirit either and she's just a little more than the other pups I've raised.

No , You DO! want to break her man chalangeing Spirit, before it turns into a manbiter spirit. She needs to know that shit dont fly with you or any other human.

This is VERY TRUE, but is there any danger of doing any kind of damage to her in other areas where I would like her to be aggressive?

only if you dont use common sence and go too far. Its a 7 week pup a simple thump or soft slap on the nose will work . I always play with my pups food while there eating from time to time untill thay are mature doing this from a youg age will stop this from developing in the first place. Youre pup is just being a pup and testing his limits its up to you to show him his limits. Within reason with little force of corse. Now if you scold youre dog everytime he shows aggresssion twards another dog or animal yes this could break his spirit.
