    Nylabones? That doesn't sound safe.

Try a Galileo bone instead. They are a whole lot stronger. Also, deer horns. My dog loves those.

I wish I had pictures. I have had two dogs who destroyed black kongs. I would have to buy a few a year. I have seen other dogs do the same too. Buck doesn't like them for some reason.

Galileo bones are just a certain style/shape of nylabones they are all made of the same stuff

Have you tried one? They are not the same stuff. They are MUCH harder. My dog went through nylabones in seconds as a puppy. It takes him weeks as an adult to finish a Galileo bone.

i always get the ones that are made for like very large breed dogs and they are usually awkward for bulldogs to chew so they last a lot longer but ive had the same two inside for my house dog jake for about 6 months and id say maybe 7/10ths of them are still left and he chews them dailys

I bought an extra large Galileo bone once and my dog finished 40% of the bone in 2 hours. I normally bought nylabones, but I read from posts in the pasts that the Galileo was supposed to be stronger. So i decided to give it a try..... but had to throw it out at the end of day. I thought it was weird how some say its stronger but my dog finished most of it in a day and I had to throw it in the trash because it was risky of keeping it since it fit in his mouth...
And The Extra large or the biggest size which they have for Nylabones last longer for my dog(3 weeks) So if anything, I'd say Nylabones are stronger. I get the biggest size available. (extra large breed or w/e)

And yes it does have those white shavings that come off. But it takes less than a minute to take a broom and sweep it up at the end of the day.And the tiny shavings just pass through the dog harmlessly as far as I know... Unless anyone knows otherwise, then plz inform me so i dont risk my dog getting harmed..

    hmm.

Maybe I got the wrong type of Nylabones? The couple I got actually crumbled into large chunks when he bit into them. This is new to me. I have never heard anyone say that Nylabones are any good until this thread. I also have never heard of anyone complain about Galileo bones being soft.

i never tried the smaller sized nylabones before. I buy the one which says for large breed even though i dont own a large breed. And i buy just the turkey leg ones.

i taught my dog to spit out the plastic when she chews on plastic bottles. i use soccer balls . i buy em at walmart . she will pop em , then i kick em far and she chases em and when it bounces she jumps and catches it mid air. but she doesnt chew on shit unless i let her / tell her to

I had a nylabone that was the same one on the left, and it was in the same condition at the time I misplaced it. Yes it held up, but I was always worried that perhaps the material it was made out of was too strong and when the ends got worn down they were too rough. My dog might as well have been grinding his teeth on rocks, I was paranoid he was going to chip them to pieces.

Nylabones last, but they get sharp edges as they get chewed up. The black Kong toys are the only toys that last for my dog. She also really enjoys the large beef knuckles. I can get more than a few weeks out of them.

Whole cow femur bones... I go to the local meat market (where I get the dog's ground beef and liver) and get a bag of bones and that lasts for weeks. It doesn't hurt that they give it for free either.

years ago i thought i finally found something that would work- it was a nylabone , looked like a black cow bone. said on the label "pit bull proof"- thought we might have something. well about 5 days later one of the ~knots~ was missing from the bone...4 days later we were in the ER having it removed from his intestines.

after that- its only X large kongs for puppies ( under 1 year old) under supervision, cowhides, or marrow bones

We have experimented with all of the above except the tire and the Galileo bone. Kongs do not hold up. Nylabones are chunked off and get dangerous, ropes get in the gut. Etc.
I give them cow hooves which they love, but my big male can chomp off chunks of it that I think is dangerous, so I only let him have them under supervision. I give them the smoked femurs as well from time to time but again, under supervision.
Basically anything I give them is under supervision.
