Breeding a dog with mono cryptorchidism.

Just looking for any insight. All the show people seem to think that the dog should be neutered, and never breed for fear of it being passed on. However I have heard other dogmen say that it won't necessarily pass on, and that both the male and female need the gene to pass in on to the pups?

My 6 month old pup has his left testicle in place, but his right one is in the pit of his right hind leg, about 2-3 inches from his scrotum. The vet says if I don't want to neuter he can remove the retained testicle and leave the left one in tact.

If any of you had a real good dog, with this trait, would you consider breeding him? I heard some great dogs from the past were mono cryptorchid, including Gr. Ch. Bo (Denny's Bo?)

That trait can be passed down, the more you let it slide the more often it will happen. The choice is yours to make though , you just have to weigh the pros and cons and do what ever you think is in your best interest.

This dog is 6 months old... Why are you thinking already about breeding him?
    I wouldn't keep a cryptorchid, that means I wouldn't breed with one.

So that I can peddle puppies and make some money....

Seriously though. I never said I wanted to breed him, but that may come to pass. I'm just talking. Conversation brings on conversation, right?

That was an option. I really like this guy's ped, and choose to keep him.

I think it would be wiser to look past the dog you have in front of you and realize u can end up haveing a whole bunch of one nuts if u breed it . That would be a bad thing . Then you can find a bitch with one ovary and really get the breeding going

You're obviously a child so i'll not get into a useless debate with you. Forum trolling at it's finest. BTW he's only 6 months. Now get off the computer, and get out of the basement, your mother is calling you up for dinner.

It doesn't sound good, if a puppy owner asks about breeding his pup... Don't matter if the pup is cryptorchid or not. You just don't make breeding plans on pups. There are plenty other dogs out there... Proven males, with good pedigree, perfect health... No need to think about the use of a cryptorchid puppy. Let the poor pup grow up, play with him, have fun together... And if he really turns out into a proven extraordinary male, then you can ask that question again and probably people would take you more serious then.

You need a tougher mom, who'll kick your parasitic ass out of the basement to find a job.

Fair enough. Like I said, I'm just talking strictly "what if". I've made no plans, not even close, just finding myself in a situation with a one nut pup, so the question came up. I really don't see the big deal in bringing it up.
