You also said you appreciated the way I approached you.I dont know how much hands on you have and I think you are smart to keep it that way,but you have studied bloodlines and do add to the forum in that way.As for my post to CF I thought the first post was a little harsh so Since I could not delete I rephrased my post.

Getting back on track, I think the pups that come from big kennels get neglected to a point. Owners don't spend enough time with them because of time. That could also have something with shyness in them.

I would agree with that somewhat.I hand raised tight frisco pups that were extremely socialized to say the least and still got some shy one's

I have 2 inbred sister's heavy on the Mike kelly
Mojo Rising blood. Both were submissive pissers
Wich was annoying. It was also noticed with most the littermates.
They were out in the country till about six months of age till I got thet. With a little work
They have come around and are wide open. Once in awhile I notice
A submissive urination from initial contact at the chain spot but nothing like the first few months.
Very confident hounds and great lookers.

Being shy has no influence on a dog being a bulldog or not.

I have seen it both ways. There is no way to correlate one to the other or disprove the opinion either. It is opinion. Subjective at best.

Here are two personal experiences but does not cover every dog within every line.

Mims (DTA) Hanky. Came along after DTA's/Mims Charlie (4XW). With home field advantage he was one of the best I ever seen. A amped up version of Charlie. On his chain sot to the building he was fine, shy around other people and any vehicle. When he travelled he was way shy all the way around. On his first away game he obliterated the other squad and the quit rank. Some referred to his shyness.

The other was a female out of Bakari's Tyrone. Never came out of the box. 23 3/4 hours per day. Would not come out to eat until the people were gone and the other dogs had calmed down. Submissive pisser. Too shy to work. Yet finished 2or 3 off the chain. Then raised non-shy pups.

I'm not sure there is a link either way, but more of an undesired trait that some can't look past. Some choose to deal with it.

If a shy dog quits rank its just a shy cur. Same as a confident cur.

Agreed. My point is more that a cur is a cur. What kind of cur, or the adjectives used to describe 'cur' does not change anything, at least for me.

Shy dogs make it and shy dogs quit. Being shy not the root cause of either.

The makings of an ACE include a multiple of things,,,not only in the ABILITY but the CONFIDENCE to prevail in the most stressfull situations...

When breeding dogs and hoping for that once in a lifetime ACE,,, with the ACE ability aside,,, I would breed for the rest of the qualities...

Sure there are different degrees of shyness,,, and some are worth the keep...

How far do we take it,,, there only good on thier spot or when they arent handled,,, country rules as he piss himself when hes touched by a human???

Do these pissy dogs forget about the shyness when they are in the mist of things???

If so, than maybe we can excuse this behavior,,, but most shy dogs dont care about a human in more that thier oppisition,,, the son of banjos juniors brother were of that shy type,,, put in a stressfull situation and shy dogs evan bite thier owners...

With any breed this should be culled as dogs in general evolved into mans best friend...

And yes,,, those whom excuse it like TG,,, are the base of this thread...

A joke I heard about Friscos offspring is you got to bring them in dry and they wont piss themselves...FUCK FRISCO...
Like I said when I first pissed chuvalofan off,,, we use them for compitition..

go to any puppymill,,,any breed,,, anywhere and you will find shy dogs,,, that might be the difference in a mill and a real peddeler whom understands true husbandry and maintiance breedings,,, never making them worse and hoping to make them better...

Unless that shyness AFFECTS a dogs performance in any way most people wont give a shit about it as there have been great shy dogs throughout the history of the breed.

Getting back off topic now LOL, there are "SOME", people that use the term "I HEARD", because its less incriminating LMAO.

Bet you cant name one shy ACE,,, or a shy dog that travelled a good distance and prevailed...
