Because, say your ETA to a level 1 trauma center is 45 min out. Or, it doesn't even have to be trauma, could be medical like a stroke. There is what we call the "golden hour". That's from onset to treatment. Needs to be within one hour. Well we do not always know how long a person has been down unless witnessed. And, say they need a higher level of care than a EMT or Paramedic. Like me, Critical Care Paramedic/Flight RN. So, the ambulance calls "life flight". Sets up a LZ, we land, take over care and transport via helicopter to facility. We do not transport "dead people". The ambulance crew has to get the patient alive and somewhat stable for us to come. Helicopter fuel is not cheap. If they are dead, they are dead, but if they have activity on the EKG 12 lead then we will come.

From what you just said in your post almost every one can see how green or inexperienced you really are G4G. It dont matter if you was alive in the 50's or not, if you had any type of actual experience or knew someone with any real experience you would know how sponging is actually done if allowed. There are usually two common ways sponging is done.

That's correct Pootie, I let my dogs $hit in the neighbors yard lol...and the only blood on my boots are from saving a$$e$. Will somebody pat Pootie on the back, she's really trying to get a good pat from somebody. She needs to feel apart of her supposed piers on here. well glory i will tell you if you pour to much water on the dog your not going to have much left . and if you do it 2-3 time and he's stressed and hot he will cool off some but then if you keep doing it he can't stay warm and is cold and having to work hard and the shock just sets in . you jump in the water when your hot and tired . your going to seize up fast and then you can't get warm and then your in very bad trouble real fast and someone better save you . but this probably is different than what is normal . it's like you said head and stomach balls is the best way to cool . but if you pour water on the parts you need you don't have anything left .
