  1. Saint, Don would have told you that almost everyone did it including himself. He wasn't proud of it but he didn't lie about it either.
Don was not out to point fingers at people he just tried to tell some of the things he knew (or believed at least) about the breeding of some of the dogs.
Don was definitely no Saint lol.

  2. Had you asked Don about some dog he would have answered you honestly. I have much of the discussions we had saved. What dog is it that you are interested to know about? if it's among the ones we discussed I would be glad to post what he said about it.

Also there is one point here that no one has made because all this about who bred what dog and stole or didn't steal this or that has taken precedent and that is the fact that although Floyd "may" have started out with a dog not from his own breeding, what he did with him and later his offspring is all to his credit. Anyone can take good dogs and ruin them but few can take them and form a family that enjoys success for over 50 years. No one else did that only Floyd, no matter what dogs he started with. Keep that in mind when we discuss this because it's important to know.

Your question is too generalized. Basically what it all boils down to is each individuals yards. You can have 2 different kennels running the same Eli bloodline and have two totally different results.

Funny how some people think that all the old timers or any dogman for that matter were saints, angles with a halo above there heads LOL. I dont think there is any person in the world today without sin everyone has lied at least once in there lifetime. LOL

Put a H in front of Eli LMAO.

I don't believe Eli came from DM line of dogs!!...all this is he say/she say bs!!...show proof!!...just cause DM said it doesn't mean it's true!!...BB got banned?!!!...wow!!...never thought that would happen!

This post should not turn out to be a Mayfield post, I agree. It is a Eli post. The main question around Eli is the fact that his blood is good and has been crossed with alot of others that turned out good. So it is important to know where he comes from. His ped from FB shows him as heavy Blind Billy, therefor heavy Dibo. It is just strange that he looked very different to common Dibo dogs. Now to know the truth about where Eli comes from is a step in the direction of knowing how to breed him to continue getting the best out of his line.

Gringo, I would really like to know about the Bull Boy Bob dog. He also does not look like a common line bred Bolio dog. I would imagine that a common look for Bolio dogs to be more in the line of El Bits Cortaro.

  9. I'd like to know about the Crenshaw Rascal dog, is there any secrets in his ped

There are many different strains of bolio. I have had both buck and bobby jr dogs and they look nothin alike. Like was said b4 u can general looks or behaviors of a dog based on bloodline alone. And you def can't say eli is the way to go. Its has to do with personal preference along with your location and what's around you a lot of the time.

You're wrong there Dream. Eli is definitely the way to go. lol.

  12. Kelbone I have never heard anything about Bull Boy Bob or how he was bred so I can't offer any information on him or the Rascal dog.
But as far as the way to go, the only way to go is the way that suits you best whatever that may be wether it's Eli or something else.

Now I'm going to address the statement, "His ped from FB shows him as heavy Blind Billy, therefor heavy Dibo. It is just strange that he looked very different to common Dibo dogs."
This statement doesn't really make much sense since with either pedigree Eli is a very heavy Dibo dog. Remember that Cry Baby was a direct daughter of Dibo. It was Mayfield's dog Little Cotton that had the outcross by way of Ritcheson's Clipper who was out of Williams' breeding (Red Cloud) and Hemphill's breeding (Ida Red 2). This outcross comprises less than 10% of the genetic influence by the time we get to Little Cotton though, and so he is still predominantly a Dibo dog.
What did a Dibo dog look like anyway? I have seen pictures of a bunch of them and they were as varied in looks then as they are today. They had little uniformity in color and pattern as well as in physical attributes. Even the brothers Jeff and Spike looked very different and were of very different weights, one being almost twice as large as the other. The only real similarity I found when looking at the dogs that comprised Dibo's lineage was with his sire Bouncer, but that's where it ended.
Now if Eli was bred the way that is stated in his public ped then he is just another Dibo dog out of hundreds that were around back then. But if he is bred the way Mayfield said then there would be a difference in him and that would come from the Tex of Elmhurst dog, a very heavy fighting staff dog (Black Jack Jr., Henry blood,,, i.e. http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=16145 )
When we think of him in this way, it helps to explain some of the traits of the Eli dogs. His dam Cry Baby, a devastating bitch out of Dibo who defeated 4 dogs with no takers after that and her brother Gr Ch White Rock, considered the hardest biting dog in his time. With a history like that it's no surprise that Eli created such a strong family of dogs.

In the end though you plug in whatever numbers fit your formula and work with it. As for me, I like to imagine that my friend Don was right because that would make Eli something just a little more special in my delirious mind. So I bred my dogs according to what I believed just like you will breed yours how you believe and that's the way it should be.

To some folks the fact that Floyd could have taken a litter is like some kind of blasphemy or something. But to me he was just like everyone else back then, doing and getting done to and among eachother. The same thing goes on today only it's much worse now and makes these guys look like angels. People today are torturing these beasts for their pleasure and killing them in the thousands for sake of "their own protection". People are selling crap for thousands of dollars and sometimes not even sending the crap! Man these old guys were just in diapers compared to people now so it's no problem to me that someone may or may not have kept a dog or litter or whatever, hell he had to feed them and back then that was something lol.

  13. When I tried to coroborate the stories I found it helpful to hunt down information about a dog that few take notice of in Don's story named Elias' Pistol who was said to have been a brother to Eli.

Gringo, it is always nice to read your replies. Thank you for being honest and sheading light on the subject. Your arguements makes so much sense and you are right dogs are just not what they use to be and dogmen just aint what they use to be. Another point I will take out of your reply is, everyone must do what is right by the dogs in the manner they see fit. I just hope I can give these dogs the same honour they give in the []. Thanks Gringo.

If u are going to use jeep/Redboy then u are very, very wrong!!...with all the strains of Eli dogs and crosses they murder jeep/Redboy dogs in the winning % in the last 20 years!!....easy!!...chinaman, frisco, nigerino, bullyson, rascal, Eli jr, Cardenas, maverick, sixbits, skull, shorty cowboy, boyles, etc...u were better off just saying jeep or Redboy but to say a jeep/Redboy cross is better than a Eli cross in the last 20 years is just insane!!

  20. maybe he meant adding Eli to the jeep/redboy
