GSP gets the UNANIMOUS decision for the win. Thiago had no take down defence and although it wasn't a slug fest like we all like to see GSP executed his game plan and kicked some ass.

They are saving Fitch vs Thiago for after the main event so Brock vs Mir is next.

Well it didn't happen. Mir lost via TKO in round 2. Lesnar was to strong took him down and did a little of the I'm gonna keep punching till the ref stops the fight. Lesnar won but in all honesty if the man wasn't the size of a house he would get dismantled by many fighters. He has little skill and it is actually upsetting to know the Heavy weight champ does nothing for the sport because he has no technical ability what so ever.

Edit. As of right now the only man I see who has a chance to beat brock is Fedor. If all the planets and moons align we may one day get to see that match up. Assuming Fedor beats Josh Barnett August 1.

The night ended with Jon Fitch defeating Paulo Thiago via Unanimous decision. To bad for the fighters all the excitement of the night was gone after the MIR, Lesnar fight. The crowd was silent even though it was a decent fight.

  4. It's not his fault he worked hard to get his physique (and don't try the whole steroids angle,he's been tested numerous times ever since college and not once tested positive)
And if he has absolutely no skill then how is he still able to beat people that do have skills.

Fact is he's a Div 1 national wrestling champ and if you look at all the top fighters in the UFC today, most have a wrestling background.Nobody starts out knowing all angles of the sport that's why you have to train and so far I'd say his training is coming along nicely.

Good line up. Thiagao had nothing. Hands got to Mir. Way to go Henderson!

I'm sure the man worked extremely hard to get his physique but most of that is genetics. Their are many big guys in the sport but Brock is a genetic freak.

As far as his skill goes I don't take away anything from his wrestling but again he just over powers people. Brock doesn't have great boxing skills he just throws those GIANT hands and if they connect well we have seen heath hearing so that explains it all. Not to mention I would be willing to bet we will never see brock in his career do a single submission. So I stand by my statement that if he wasn't as big as a house he would get dismantled by other fighters.

Hell Randy Coutore was standing his own and if Brock was a normal sized individual most likely would have lost, but randy caught a lunch box in the head and brock took him down.

  9. Kimbo did get in way to late so he'd never have a chance with any of the top dogs but it really doesn't take to long to get a decent ground game.
Kimbo has great hands for only being a street fighter and I'm sure they are gonna get better with some more top trainers.

Really all Kimbo would need on the ground is BJJ defense and a few good sweeps so he can try to get on his feet which he could learn in short order.

Learning all the moves is the easy part it's just having those moves come to you when your in the cage with a guy beating on ya lol.

  10. LMAO You must have something against heavyweight fighters.

Here's the real truth. Lesnar bitch slapped Mirr and beat his face in at will on the ground. Not just once but in each round. The blows were not the 2" hammer fist shots, but smashing right hand fists that almost all landed.

It's funny how anybody that seems to have brute strength is not worthy of MMA in your book.

If you want to come play in the heavy weight class you better be ready to fight heavy weight style. WTF do you think the heavy weight class has ever been about in any type of combat sport? DUH....BRUTE STRENGTH!

Fact of the matter is Mirr lucked out in the first fight. You don't have to take my word for it anybody go watch it. Lesnar is a smarter fighter since then and learned not to be stupid. EXAMPLE: In tonights fight when the take down wasn't clean and he backed off and let Mirr up. Not dumb enough to go sprawling on top of him and get himself submitted again.

Quite honestly your commentary seems to run on emotion and not facts. I am not a Lesnar fan. I'll give the guy credit or discredit where it is deserved though. Tonight he deserves credit for opening a 55 gal barrel of whoop ass and showing a shit talking mofo how it's done! It won't be his face that's so swollen he can't see in the morning. :) Mirr turned and ducked after about 15 of them smashes to the face in the 2nd round. He should be thankful the ref stopped it or he just might have brain damage right now LOL.

As for the rest of the show.

HENDERSON!!!!!!!!!!!! Best friggin' KO I've seen in a loooooooong time! Put ol' boy to sleep for minutes!!

GSP fight was somewhat boring but nice tactical ground game. I enjoyed it but didn't jump up and down at any point.

Fitch fight super boring. Looked as though he was going to get choked on more than one occasion but it never happened. OK fight at best.

The first fight of the night has to be the most fooked up decision in UFC history. Akiyama did not win a single round IMO. I guess the judges felt sorry for him for getting kicked in the nuts in the first round. It was OBVIOUSLY NOT a malicious kick and was purely an accident. I guess sympathy points counts now. No penalty by the ref but oh well.....judges are judges. Guess the money was on Akiyama. Better luck next time Belcher I sure think you won the fight.

We had a kickass time shooting skeet and some targets. Ate some good bbq, and spent time with good friends. Couldn't ask for a better evening. :)

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I actually love the heavy weight division. Fedor is one of my favorite fighters. I love all MMA. I wasnt giving commentary either. I was just typing what I felt so yes you are correct in saying it was filled with emotion.

I do agree with what you said from "As for the rest of the show" down.

Hey I found this site for anyone who didn't catch the fights. http://www.worldofcombat.net/

It has the Lesnar, Henderson and GSP videos on the main page in the column of featured videos. Only thing is they have japanese commentary. If you can get past that and just enjoy the fights they are good quality.

TUF Season 10...exclusively for heavy weights...So hopefully that adds more talent to the pool of big boys. Unless Dana White and the UFC can dish out some dough to get Fedor to match, I don't see it happening anytime soon. GSP's cleaned up everyone in the welter weight division, so we'll see if he tries to move up. Dan the man Hendo, is one of my favorite fighters. He handed Bisbing the a$$ whooping he deserved. That Brit, sure did have a mouth on him, and it got shut silent after the fight. He got handled, hands down! Some great fights last night, just wish I was home to watch them with family and friends and not in the sand box...

All I'm gonna say is I can't stand Mir and I'm glad he got his a** knocked. He runs his mouth constantly about every fight and I was praying Nogueira would take him down after TUF season but that was about the sadest fight ever. So I'm glad he got a little slice of humble pie, dude needed it, BAD.

I feel the opposite about those two. I always thought Mir was a humble dude and Lesnar was cocky. Shit im sure you saw how brock was acting after the fight. And yeah mir runs his mouth but what announcer doesnt:confused:

  16. Yes Lesanar is a big mouth too that I will not disagree with. I said above that I was no fan. He will also meet his match sooner or later as every fighter does sooner or later. As far as Mirr being humble LOL. If you ain't humble after an ass whipping like that you don't have a brain in your head. Quite honestly, I LOVED it when Lesnar told him to talk some fooking shit now mofo! That dude talks more shit than internet tough guys LOL. He DID have a record to back it up, but he knew he lucked out in the first fight. I give him his props for the submission in the first fight. That's what submisions are all about, getting them in when you have the chance. IF it weren't for that lucky window of opportunity the first one would have ended just like the second. A face pounding that takes 2 or 3 weeks to heal. :)

Frank Mir is a good guy and a top notch fighter no doubt but I think that win over Nog boosted his ego a tad bit too much. I remember him fighting Ian Freeman back in the day and he ended up bleeding from his ears and everything. That was prior to his motorcycle accident. That was the Frank Mir that was humble and the fighter you could identify with.
I like Lesnar. He seems like a genuinely nice and down to earth guy and I am 100% certain all that talk he does post fight is for entertainment only. It's much like Tito Ortiz. That's the kind of stuff that makes people tune in again and gets peoples attention. In my opinion Lesnar is a very talented guy. I have been watching MMA and other combat sports for a long time now and never have I seen a man that big move at the speed he does. He is a huge guy but he has a ton of explosive power. Considering the time he has been training MMA he is doing VERY well and I am certain that we will see A LOT more diversity from him in the future. He is training submissions, submission defense and I am sure that once he gets a bit more comfortable applying them he will be an even bigger force (no pun intended) to reckon with.
People always love to run their mouths on seemingly one dimensional fighters such as Brock Lesnar (which he really is not) but those people have never been in a grappling match, nevermind attended a submission grappling class. It doesn't matter how big your opponent is or how heavy, if you know how to apply a submission and have a decent groundgame you will submit that guy unless that person has a very solid grappling base and knows about submission defense. If you have ever grappled with a bigger opponent that doesn't know a thing about grappling you know how easy it is to submit that guy or even choke him out. So for someone to come out saying that Brock doesn't know what he is doing and only has his size going for him is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. Yes, this might have been true in his first fight against Mir but not in his last two fights. If you can stand up to the likes of Couture and Mir you are on the right track.

  18. If, could've, and maybe are all BS talk. That's the plain and simple truth. Lesnar walks the walk which is the real world.

  19. Shameless

    Shameless Big Dog

I agree 100%. Anyone who watched him as a coach on TUF, he was anything BUT humble. No doubt he is a good solid fighter but to me, he isn't anything special, he's a sore looser

I think Lesnar has come a longggggg way as far as his speed goes, in the couture fight I could literally count a second in between when he lifted his arm to throw a punch and when he connected. That fight I think was luck and the fact that the dude (when he connects) hits like a freight train. At least lately he's seemed to gain some speed and his stamina is a bit better, doesn't look like he's going to pass out after going one round. As far as him talking crap afterward, if you watch the post press conference he at least apologizes for it and admits that it was because he was amped up and in the moment.

Oh, and Random Guy....Just because he was tested for steroids doesn't mean he wasn't on them. Just about everyone in the WWE is on steroids at one point or another and depending on what you take it can be out of your system in a week if need be, WWE protect's their own also. He may not be on them now but I think it's pretty obvious when you go look at pix of him when he was in the WWE vs. Now

I'm not saying it makes him any less of a skilled wrestler or fighter, I just like to give credit where credit is due and that one ain't exactly 'all natural'.
