just a heads up and not to knock the guy.... thought u might wanna research him a little if u r considering his dogs. i dont know if its true or not but i've read a few questionable comments bout the guy. again not trying to bash anyone.

No prob..I didnt think you were bashing. Many people listen to hearsay instead of going to the source and finding out for themselves.

 

His dogs are very good He is ok. J

 

Some of his dogs are in the high 20lbs. range. I want to see a dog that small. I have always had a soft spot for the little ones.

 

Don't see too many of his dogs around, and his famed stud dog quit in front of many reputable people. He's a peddler selling other peoples info, and the hard work of other breeders-claiming it as his own. Hear mixed reviews about his animals, but I wouldn't trust buying a dog from someone with a tongue to make a used car salesman proud. He is "getting out of the dogs" every 6 months, as an excuse to sell large quantities of dogs. Thankfully, the word on the street is he is leaving the dogs, to take advantage of the exotic reptile market.

Not to mention, he was arrested a few days after PP, what happened there? Why has he been posting carefree on online sites, selling products, and bragging about his dogs since the raids? Regardless if he was charged or not, his insulting comments to PP and his wife since then (maybe he should look at the pedigrees behind his dogs), has been enough to sway me against the smooth-talking con man.

 

AMEN.....I've heard so much bad shit on him that i have completely black listed buying any dog with his name anywhere in the ped. I'd rather deal with hard working, PRIVATE dogmen that keep it down to earth

Every since i first started visiting different game dog forums, there has been threads with his name and nothing but bad things about him.. No personal experience with him, and i understand that hearsay isnt always liable info and the stories can and will get twisted. But at the same time when there are multiple ppl accussing him of the same thing, i would just not deal with him at all because its some truth to what the hearsayers are saying!!! It's a ton of different strains, and hundreds of good dogmen still left where you can get quality bulldogs, dont get one that have chances of making it your LAST ONE!

 

That's some heavy words on someone who can't defend himself.

I've spoken with CA Jack a time or two he's not that bad of a guy. I admit he is one cocky son of a gun but his dogs are up to par thats why they are still around and being used in programs. The man knows his stuff to a tee like a science, regardless of where he stole or gathered all his info.

Alot of doggers don't respect him cuz he has this city boy attitude that he brings to the dog world. His main dog may have quit but the dog is producing world wide. Good dogs to use in your program if you don't mind taking the added chance of more culls due to the quit gene.

Now I can't speak on the stuff thats been going down. I know he defended the family in NC pretty hard. Its hard to believe that a breeder can put out keep books and how to books and not get looked at everyday, but then again the guys got some cash and a fast talker so I can imagine he can defend himself pretty good as opposed to some of the older guys that are getting taken down who aren't too law savvy and may not be prepared for the big one. Also from what I hear the guy hasn't put a hand in the ring for many years.

Anyway just my opinion. Seen two vice grip dogs down from pancho crossed with some west penn blood. Both were good. Haven't owned one yet because they are a bit too small for me but still a consideration.

 

Like i say no personal experience, and i dont know what kind of guy he is and i wasnt trying to bash him in no way. He might have some good dogs and I hope all is well with him, but If i ever had a chance to meet him and or to see his dogs and how good they are i would give him props and let him know he has some good dogs, but i still couldnt get one from him because he has to much attention! Thats all im saying he's in tha spotlight right now.... But once again in no way bashing just wouldnt get a dog from him with everything going on....

I did not know that. I do know that the dogs behind Poncho (Hollingsworth/Patrick) are great dogs (in the peds of my dogs) and that I heard that the info in his books was very good. Plagerized, I suppose, but good info nonetheless.

Of course many also accuse Thomas Jefferson of plagiarizing the Declaration of Independence from John Locke's Two Treatise of Government (actually, if you read both documents closely, Jefferson did get his ideas from Locke, lol).

 

Ive spoken with CA JACK a couple times wher he walked me through some hard times and parvo. He seemed very curteous and spoke with a quickness of knowledge.

I had my doubts about him as well, I try not to make strong judgements about people from second hand info. When I seen him laughing at Emily, asking what ever happened to the legendary "Patrick Kennels", I lost all respect for the man. His family of dogs would not be around if it wasn't for their breedings, and as said before, he was also arrested within a few days of Emily and Pat.

He is well-versed on the treatment of Parvo/babesia, and has lots of good information. I've always been taught "Half of being smart, is knowing where to find the answers". He's done his research, and knows his stuff. His personality, attitude, and ethics overshadows his wasted potential.

 

1000% right...couldn't say it any different! Dogs are OK....but Jack "CAN" be an ass at time...very cocky and egotistical about his line, most of it is for sales.

Well everyone can think as they want But truth is this game is full of SOBs and I learned longlonglong ago never put a lot of stock when it comes to people pointin fingers and calling names. I learned to judge the dogs my self and I MY SELF HAVE HAD 2 PONCHO DOGS AND THEY WERE GOOD DOGS. one was very good not great but very good alot better than most I have seen come from open kennels. But for the person looking to get something diffrent they are as good as Ive seen. And could be better in the hands of some one that wanted to take the time and cross some more brute power in them. The dogs them selfs cannot help who owns them. YIS J
