    Question Running with my dog.

This past week me and my dog have been jogging a mile every morning, and I was wondering if I put a weighted chain around his neck while jogging would it harm his neck? I use to own a harnest but i have no clue where that thing is, and Ive never thought about using a chain but I just wanted to know from some experts...and he is 10 months old incase that makes a difference.

I prefer weighted vest with the load as close to the shoulders as possible. Many pet stores carry inexpencive pack vest. I also like to use the same kind of weight bags as I use for diving but rocks would do, small rocks not boulders. And like the post above dont hit them with to much startin to early on, give them a chance to grow and joints/bones to mature

Would you run with a weighted collar on the weakest part of your spine? Well your dog should never do it either!!!

Because the chance of risk to the cervical spine is very high! It can cause anything from ligament/tendon damage to herniated discs to ruptured discs (which for most dogs ends with a date with Mr. Euthasol). Running your dog is to gain endurance & promote a lean body structure, not pack on muscle bound weight. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the weighted collars or harnesses, but I think the collars should be destroyed. As for the harness, just some steady walks is fine...no running.
