Re: Hard Bite
Some yards are bred geared more towards hard bite, I know a fella in Venesuela who has Sorrels dogs who swears they are naturally harder biters than anything he has ever seen but they also drop from exaustion after 30-40 minutes of hard work. The moral of the story is if you breed for anything but Gameness/Ability (in that order) you might have a harder biting cur than the next guys hard biting cur but all and all you will just have a hard biting cur. Buy from a gamebred bloodline, don't worry about how hard your puppy can chew a kong.

Re: Hard Bite
The pup is a product of the parents,do either of them bite hard????Just grow that pup up first before you worry about these things. As far as Redboy/Jocko dogs, there's good and bad.But I'm feeding 2 of them right now and I like the 2 I have.

Re: Hard Bite
Earl Tudor said it best: "A dog bites hard because it wants to bite hard." (He was actually speaking of one of his greatest dogs, Tudor's Black Jack.)
Sure, some bloodlines may be known for a hard bite, but in the end it really comes down to an individual dog.
Outside the [] some dogs may seem they can't pop a wet paper bag, while others can crush cow bones.
Inside the [], however, is where a bite used to matter. Weak biters became strong, and the strong became weak.
And a pup doesn't come out like its parents, but like its grandparents and great grandparents.
Like NGK said, if a breeder focuses on hard bite alone, sure he may have a yard full of biters. But he loses other more important aspects.

Re: Hard Bite
yr dead on the money with that one. i had a red mutt mixxed with a lil pit, overall an alright dog tho and he never showed any signs of biting hard, this dog looks sorry as hell working a hide lol, one day i had an accident with him n he grabbed hold of another dog and would let go n i had no break stick, i literally chocked this dog until i felt like i was gonna kill him n let go of him. i had to use a broken broom stick with the help of 2 people 2 break him off an angry mutts head

Re: Hard Bite
I really believe they bite as hard as they want too and are thinking about. Seen slower moving dogs that seemed to have a better bite than a nut crazed speed demon. Dont get me wrong there are fast bone crushers also.... I really believe its in there mind and if they are focused on the bite. All in all dont breed for bite ... breed for heart cause at the end thats what counts anyway. Weither it wins or dies trying.
