Protect Yourself Durring Dog Attack

This is VERY simple to me, first of all breed HA dogs is NOT the reason for the state of the breed. 9 times out of 10 its not a game bred dog you see on the news attacking someone. You only hear negative things about game bred dogs in the yard bust. And more often than not I agree most HA dogs should be put downn especially if you're breeding conf/wp dogs! But if a competitor get the caliber of dog most never get to lay eyes one let alone own and he happens ro be a man biter than you keep that fucker locked away and safe. You don't bring those types of dogs out in public, its just not worth it. I had to put down one who I liked a lot. I use my dogs for adba shows and a HA dog is pointless for me to own. people fail to realize these were performance dogs first and petbulls last. They weren't created to be lap dogs you take to the dog park and show off to everyone. They were made for one reason and if they were good enough you figured out how to house feed and show that dog PERIOD. I doubt most man biters were worth the trouble but that's a judgement call for the handler. And whether you know it or not I bet there are a few in your peds.

I'm a little disappointed at the direction of this thread. Topic: protecting yourself during an attack, not attacking other people for their beliefs and opinions.
Some people, especially people new around bull dogs, may not have the best instincts on the best ways to protect their body in an attack.

If you guys want to continue judging and commenting on the decisions other people made, by all means, go ahead, but start your own thread.

If you are going to keep a pitbull as a pet or show dog by all means cull manbiters. Human aggressive pitbulls have no business in public and I believe there should be a zero tolerance policy for human aggression at shows. With that said, if you are breeding & feeding performance animals it is up to you if you keep a manbiter. More than likely they are out of sight away from the general public in that instance. It is not the gamebred manbiters owned by serious dogmen that have caused the problems in society. It is the ill-bred curs owned by petbull people that have. That is a fact.

I agree with this 100% right on benthere. For what reason would a show dog or a pet need to bite a human and still be allowed to breathe? That's absurd to say the least. And why the hell would you take a HA show dog out to a dog show lol. The only issue I see about keeping HA performance animals alive is if dog men are letting the offspring go into hands of non-dog men or other dog men who don't keep tight circles when letting dogs go to other yards I think they need to take some accountability for what they breed and pass off to others. Obviously HA can be passed along so you just need to be careful with breeding HA bulldogs and what happens to the offspring. Nothing is 100% but I believe dog men keeping HA dogs are most likely are not letting what they breed go to pet owners or people they don't trust I don't know this to be fact I am just guessing based on the little I do know ....

I don't mean to highjack your thread but people can learn from what happened here. Newbies coming to this site will read this and possibly think twice about keeping HA bulldogs or breeding them. I think you gave some great advice on how to protect yourself during an attack but I also believe people need to be informed about these things as everything that happens with these dogs has a chain reaction effect on other dog owners. But anyways I think some of the people on this thread are making good and valid points regarding HA in this breed. I guess if the mods feel we have taken the thread off topic they will ask us to get back on track.

This is bullshit,dog shoulda been plugged right there on the spot.The fact that he chose to attack a human,instead of all the other dogs around is grounds enough for termination.How does a show dog with those attributes become a champion?Just goes to show what the breed standard has become.

To the OP...You did the right thing by remaining calm and not running.Only thing i would do different is feed him my forearm instead of my hand.
