Re: Purpose breeding
That is very true. To know people who still does the work is a treasure already. The Gambler will never be in dogs very long To many other ways to gamble with better odds, The Gambler that is also a dog man is Too diff things, I dont have any problem with the man who buys his stock and cares for them, I am the first to say a BET is NEEDED to keep things in check. What Im talking about is the guys that Dont know **** about dogs they buy one keep him in a creat and use him up and when he cant give any more the dog is a useless pos, The gamblers Im talking about most dont even keep a dog at all (They may get dirt on the new shoes) They dont know the first thing about the dogs but they were the first to start talking bull**** and wanting high *** dumb side bets THEM guys the ones if you beat want to buy every thing you got when they walk the yard but cant now then the same ones end up stolen, Those are the guys Im talking about, I dont mind one bit if a man expects a good price to play with him, But come on the Guys that talk all the big stuff then when you say well whats up they throw some to the moon number up so they never have to prove it execpt to another gambler that is on there level who also dont know ****. A dog man and a gambler is two total different things. There is a problem in our sport and no one wants to admit ther is a problem with that. Thats why I dont buy the local or travler makes a diff, I grew up in a area that I have never seen as good of comp any where I have been. so that if you dont travle you wont be any good idea is kinda weak to me also, Hell I would have to say my old home place ther were some of the best dog men in the world with in 100 miles. so Its all in were you are into weather you are into real comp or just geting ready for it. and In my blink of an eye of being around dogmen thats what I have seen.

Re: Purpose breeding
Some people cull early because they have bigger yards, so if he/she has 100 dogs and 95 got what their looking for then I can understand the 18 month cull , but for those who have 10-15 I can understand why one would wait until 2-3 because in my experience it happens (slow starters) that said every one has their own methods and that what make this thing we love so valuable, holla!!!!

Re: Purpose breeding
Culling can mean he gave the dog away . But I would be recluckdend to cull a 15 month pup.

Re: Purpose breeding
I agree 100%. In a word...people breed for the bloodline not the consistancy of the genetics. Is there such a thing? What I mean by that is, some say that, this breeding will produce brood stock or that another breeding will produce performers etc. etc. Shouldn't a single breeding be geared toward the both? I think when a breeding takes place, it should maintain certain traits aswell as incorperate things that will extend the gene pool. When I say extend the gene pool, its just my language for an out. I think there are people breeding to preserve lines but arn't thinking about traits. Any thoughts on my thoughts?
