swim tank
okay so i know that heavy walking of a dog wears on the joints and what not since i dont currently own a slate mill or emill or anything other than my bike which i can use to excersise my dogs with i was debating on makeing a swimtank for them with fiberglass "clear hard plastic" about a in thick and seal together with water proof creavy seal now tanks on the net are pretty exspensive now this creation would only cost me my time as i have all of the materials handy still in the planing stages but i would make it 6x4x4deep any opinions would this even work also i may have to make some time of frame out of 2x4s or 4x4s to set the tank down in so whaddu u think

Re: swim tank
You ain't got a pond nearby? Are you putting it outside? If so what about algae and slime, it's sounds like a mosquito pit to me. I don't have any experience just saying.

Re: swim tank
Basement? what if that bitch leaks and floods the basement you got a sump pump in there. other wise you could do a drain cock on it so you could drain it down to clean and then fill it up once cleaned right?

Re: swim tank
I would just throw pool shock in there and a little chlorine here and there. It never hurt mine swimming in the pool at the house.

Re: swim tank
Go for it!
Algae is really only a problem in direct sunlight so you should be fine if its in the basement. But if you do want to keep it outside you could also build a plywood lid and hinge it or use a tarp to cover the tank.
Not to mention there are lots of algae control products out there: link
But keep it covered and you should be good.

Re: swim tank
A great way to save on the cost instead of using glass go with pond liner. Here is another fish tank idea to work off of.

you really don't need to go past page 6. Its like a $200-300 build maybe less depending on where you can get your supplies.
