Ed reid
I am looking for any info articles on ed reid and ed reid bred dogs. I know one of his most famous dogs is skipper Rom. I also know he was the first or one of the first people to import APBTs into the UK and has a Kennel club in the UK. I guess what I am looking for is if anybody has any of his dogs and if so how they typically act or what traits is his bloodline(if he has one) is known for. Just looking for any info as the search tool did not turn up anything worthwhile. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help alot with my research.

Re: Ed reid
skipper dogs were long winded, had good wrestling ability, average mouthed and game, if you got a typical good one that is.

Re: Ed reid
He lives in the UK where Pitbulls are banned, so he was 1 of the 1st people to start this 'Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier' thing which is just a Pitbull renamed to get into the UK, so you can credit him with all the housing estates in England having Pitbulls now renamed as Irish Staffs to avoid the law, so they can walk around with their chest out scaring people and training their dogs to attack.

Re: Ed reid
what utter bollox.
reid has never been involved with the "irish stafford" shit, he refuses to register staffords under this banner.
very few dogs i have seen labelled as "irish staffords" were pit bull terriers imo, to be honest most appear to be badly bred, poorly put together crosses between a few bull terrier breeds.

Re: Ed reid
Hi, My name is Harry, I'm probably your youngest member @ 14yo
(Hope thats not against the rules lol) Just joined so I could see some more Pitbulls and help out in any conversations you're having. Now don't think because of my age I don't know about Pits! I'm on another site called Ireland's Pit Bull Terrier Association, and I'm a Moderator and I'm judging the puppy class at our next Walk/Meet-up on Sunday 9th May.
Just so you know I don't actually have a Pitbull yet, I have 2 Golden Retrievers (hence the name GoldenBoy on most sites, it was taken here
) But I am getting either an American Bulldog from Weight Pulling stock or a Staffy as my Dad doesn't like Pitbulls
But i'll get 1 as soon as I get my own place in a couple of years :P
The above is his (irish pitbull) intro thread and he wants an Ambully. His age is his only excuse.
Ah, and also that he can help you out in any conversation you might have.Last edited by TASOSCHATZ; 05-07-2010 at 04:08 AM.

Re: Ed reid
hi , if u live in uk u might find some ried stuff , but owning a apbt is more hassle than its worht in the uk if u live in a town or city ,u need to be away from people .As for the ried stuff , i never liked it as a family , but in the early days in the ukm that was 95% of what was around ,and even when people started to import other lines ,the ried stuff was always the high % of blood available in the uk, and my feeling is that it was not so competitve when faced with top lines from the usa that were imported to holland and uk , although like all lines there were some good dogs ,but i would never have wanted to breed a yard around that ried stuff , and they also had a lot of man aggressive dogs in that line .Ed reid was not a dogman , but he imported the dogs just at the right time ,and he sold more than anyone in europe ,and must have made a fortune from the dogs. The fact is that ed reid was a dog peddler ,not trying to be nasty ,but that is the truth ,he was not a dogman who matched his dogs , his house in london was like a shop ,were you could buy books tshirts etc , and i would say that he was the foremost peddler of apbts in europe ,and thats fine ,but he didnt breed his dogs for the core or prove his dogs ,but they did well in the uk as i said ,untill they went outside there own bloodline ,then people started to see that there was better blood around ,and like all things ,the quality improved .

Re: Ed reid
As you know Ed was in dogs for many years and wrote a few books.
If you would like to know which ones, you can find the names of the books here:
